Summary
Dick wakes up, probes his side. Under the lucid heaviness of sleep, he’d dreamt his ribs gone, wound sticky. In his dream, Jason’s fingers had touched a place in his chest cavity that will never be touched again. He’d taken the knife– a jagged hunting blade– and sliced Dick from pelvis to throat. Gooey with blood, he had dipped his fingers into Dick’s stomach and started to rip at the fine tissue around his organs. Dick had gasped wetly as his lungs were probed, his liver given a squeeze.
“Mon petit aile,” Jason whispered as he unspooled Dick’s intestines, but it was a Jason who had been allowed to grow older. A Jason who loomed over Dick with the strength of a grown man.
In the dark of his bedroom, Dick does not curl up, swell and cry, but instead– he desperately, despairingly, achingly wishes for Jason to touch him again. To make him hurt, like he’s always made Dick hurt. Not just his ribs but his cheek, his hand, his soft insides.
To take everything that’s owed to him.
This is Dick Grayson: a desperate animal chasing after dead boys that remind him of his mother. He sinks his teeth into skin and calls it love; he has never known how to love any other way.

Roy didn’t have to ask who. Whether it be Bruce or Dick or one of the many other Bat siblings, that wasn’t a thought Jason should have. Family shouldn’t plant such insecurities and allow them to sprout and blossom—flourish, even—in the heart of their brother, their son, all because they didn’t understand the way in which Jason loved.
“Look at me,” Roy said as he touched Jason’s cheek, gently coaxing the man’s gaze higher until those wet, vibrant eyes met his, so much desperation and hope projected at Roy that his heart ached in his chest. Jason wanted someone to believe in him; that’s all. He truly wasn’t asking for much. “None of them, because you’re good. You’re good, Jaybird.”

Jason Todd is good at extortion. He's what the adults call a snoop - nobody paid attention to the little kid with the big ears. Without even realizing, adults would hand him the keys to getting what he needed. Jason knew how to collect information, because adults found information valuable. And it was. It was free, easy to get, and easy to carry, so long as he kept his head clear and his facts straight.
Jason had information Batman could use. He knew it. He had thought it over all day, sitting on that moldy couch, eating stale saltines. Batman would definitely be interested in the information Jason had.Batman had become scary again, like the old stories Jason used to hear the goons in the area tell. Breaking bones, just barely keeping people alive. Batman didn’t kill, no, but sometimes? Sometimes living was worse, maybe.
Jason stayed crouched behind that dumpster, silent, because he simply couldn’t decide if Batman was far gone enough to make a kid wish he was dead.(Jason Todd knows how to get what he wants, and Batman tries to lure him to safety.)

“You bit me,” Venti mumbled, again, his voice much wetter this time. He sniffled, still looking at his hand, and then he squeezed his eyes shut and started bawling. “You bit meeee!”
It was Xiao’s turn to stare in shock, now, as the Anemo Archon flopped onto his back while holding his wrist gingerly and cried to his heart’s content, fat tears rolling down his pink cheeks. Venti kept repeating, “you bit me, you bit me,” like it was something unfair he was upset about and not a punishable crime, like Xiao would have expected, and the crying only kept getting louder whenever he stopped to take another look at his hand.
“You’re so mean,” Venti sobbed, squeezing his eyes shut. “I just wanted—” A small hiccup, “I just wanted to see if you were asleep…I didn’t know you wouldn’t like it. It hurts!”
