Looking at the dying fire, John ponders. He doesn’t understand why he feels so nervous around Javier. Why he cannot seem to do anything without imagining a thousand different unlikely scenarios, overthinking everything he says around the man. He used to be so comfortable with him, and he cannot for the life of him remember when or why this shift happened.

This fic does not shy away from talking about threats of rape, descriptions of the human body, and internal conflict. There is NO major explicit sex, and the fic focuses more on Javier's life rather than any romanticism with John but it's not queer bait. Don't expect fluff or happy relationships.
