"The chapters of Ronan's childhood storybook were full of lush, green hills and a forever blue sky; they were tales rife with magic, both from dreams and from being so unconditionally loved. His chapters had, of course, grown very dark very quickly and suddenly, but at least he still had those first pages. At least he had started in a fairytale, even if it later became a tragedy.
But Adam Parrish's chapters had always been those of a horror story. No wonder—no fucking wonder—it had taken him so long to find his footing when suddenly presented with compassion. No wonder it was still a work in progress, even now."
