“Apologies.” Zhou Zishu nods. “I thought that was just a joke. You know? Since you want to hire me to fake being his soulmate.”
“Luo-yi’s app has successfully matched dozens of soulmates,” Wen Kexing says, smiling benevolently, from where he is almost glued to Zhou Zishu’s side.
“Oh? Why not hire them instead?”
“We did have another couple lined up for the job,” says the woman sitting on the other side of the table. “They broke up.”
OR: Zhou Zishu needed a job. Wen Kexing needed a soulmate. It should’ve been easy.

A family of five has just arrived with a whole suitcase of pool toys, including an assortment of water guns, and the youngest son is already crying because there are other people in the pool. Zhou Zishu sighs and wishes he could be somewhere else.
Wen Kexing is still watching him with that indulgent smirk, looking like there’s no place he’d rather be.

The Mile’s End is a rare flower found only in the four farthings of the Shire. While no one is certain when it was first recorded, it can be found in Hobbit art and embroidery patterns going back at least 500 years. The peculiar thing about mile’s ends is that they only bloom when in the presence of true love or rather, soul mates. In Hobbit culture, therefore, it is mainly used during wedding ceremonies. They are of particular importance to weddings between two brides or two grooms, for both relationship and flower are seen as precious and symbolic of Hobbit love for community and family in all forms.
Etymology: the name “mile’s end” is most likely derived from the Sindarin loth, meaning flower; mîl, meaning love; and henia, meaning understand. What originally was mîlothenia, became milothen and eventually milen. From there, Shire accent turned it into two separate Westron words: mile’s end.- Language:

Fully intrigued now, Jiang Cheng nods. The girl unslings the bundle from her back, unties a couple of straps, and unrolls it on the floor in a smooth motion.
Jiang Cheng is on his feet before he even consciously realizes it’s happened, and the reaction murmurs out through the hall. There, on a blanket that belongs on the back of a horse, are five Wen cultivator swords, offered to him by a girl who looks like the word “bumpkin” was invented specifically for her. What the fuck.
“Where did you get those?” he asks, instead of asking “What the fuck?” out loud, because that would be unbecoming of his status as sect leader.
The girl meets his eyes again, lifts her chin, and says simply, “I killed the men who carried them.”
Or: Fan Dingxiang cultivates the swole path. Jiang Cheng doesn't know how to handle that.
