Summary
Maya and Carina ended up separating following the 5150, however, it was not the nasty break up people would expect. After Maya’s release, they did take some time to reconnect, talk, and offer apologies, but ultimately Maya felt that in order for her to heal her mind and body completely, they needed to take some time apart. Maya did not want Carina to become another goal or win, she needed to get better for herself and Carina, and did not want to hold Carina back. Carina was reluctant, but ultimately respected Maya’s needs. They agreed that if they were meant to be together, they would find themselves back to each other naturally. After Carina experiences a horrific trauma a couple years later, she is left trying to figure out how to feel like herself and live her life the way she wants to again.
