Jason obliged and stepped over creaking wooden planks to get a better look at the black haired male, instinctively scanning for signs of discomfort and tension in case he got attacked, just like how he was trained.

It could even be that she’s run into him before; that they’ve met in another lifetime, far from where they are now but close enough to recognize the other.

Jason Grace has just been promoted up SHIELD's ranks. He is now leader of a strike force, along with being an Avenger. He takes a special interest in a certain prisoner, which just complicated everything.
They are both mortals, just both have mutant powers because of an explosion. The Avengers will have a part in this, and it is a Jercy story but with no Demigods. I may or may not add the rest of the Seven and friends as agents, but the Avenger's team is the same (except for Jason).

Sometimes, Clarisse still feels like she can't breathe. Tremors settle in her lungs then, a bloody battle she fights all on her own with every breath. Sometimes she thinks she's choking on Silena's blood, and the image of her beautiful, burnt features is etched into her mind like little else.
She always ends up with Percy. Maybe because he's easy to be around now – probably because he understands. He understands what it's like to not be able to sleep. He knows what it's like to watch everyone laugh while the war still rages on in his heart. He knows what it's like when he feels like too much blood is on his hands and clogs up his throat.
