Sometimes, I catch glimpses. They make my brain squeeze and squirm—like my grey matter has been turned to needles. Internal wounds, all memories and blood.
It hurts every time.
I know I had him—whoever he was—erased. I know what it means. At some point, I wanted him gone. Wanted him gone so badly that I was willing to let them wipe everything and leave the slate clean.
There’s no record of an erasure not sticking. No reports of memories ever coming back. Believe me, I’ve checked.

“I’m thinking we should visit Honeydukes,” Feng Xin says. They’re trudging through the snow, and Mu Qing’s boots are getting uncomfortably cold. White flakes are still falling in little flurries around them; Feng Xin’s dark hair is artfully speckled with them. Snowflakes are on his lashes, too, glittering in the faint sunlight like tiny diamonds as he blinks.
Mu Qing tears his gaze away. “Whatever,” he says, but he really means yes, Honeydukes, anywhere, let’s go.

Ash feels something unspeakably vulgar about those words, something farcical even. He doesn’t believe them, not really, because how could he? No matter how solemn the place where they put in an appearance, they crumble in melancholy, leaving nothing but an impression of fatuousness in their trail. It’s messy and uncomfortable and the thought of being fallen for brings uneasiness – so much that the mere mention of it makes Ash sick to his stomach.

Ash had spent most of his life being the centre of the show; the disgusting old men in Golzine’s club, the patchwork of gang members who followed his every move like he was a messiah. Even simple passerby seemed to watch him like they were cataloging something glamorous, something other worldly.
He always hated the attention he drew, and yet—he would do anything for Eiji to look at him, to focus on him, to stay with him just a little bit longer.

Iwaizumi pushes the locker shut and looks down at his t-shirt, picking at a loose string dangling from the hem. If he tugs too hard, it’ll just ruin the stitching, so he decides to leave it alone. Right now he might rip the damn thing off.
“And I said it doesn’t matter. Why are you talkative all of the sudden?”
“Someone sounds annoyed,” Oikawa mumbles.
“No, I just…” Iwaizumi bites the inside of his cheek. Why is he annoyed? That Oikawa is talking about his girlfriend? That he saw them under the stairwell looking both guilty and flustered? That he might not know everything about his childhood best friend?
He can’t say yes to any of those questions. He can’t quite say no, either.
