Besides having had a class together every semester since freshman year, Lena’s a fairly known entity on campus if only because of her family, just the same as Kara and her goon teammates are well-known.
“I see your reading skills are intact. Nice to meet you,” she says sarcastically.
The tragic, amusing, altogether shocking story of how Lena Luthor agrees to tutor an idiot hockey player and, somehow, ends up with a fake girlfriend.

That’s when she sees Kara floating gently right outside her window. Lena has time to witness her fly face-first into the impact resistant glass the way disoriented birds sometimes do before darkness returns, dripping with rain.
“Kara?” Lena rubs at her eyes in disbelief, briefly wondering whether she’s still asleep, or perhaps hallucinating.

And she’s taken aback, because it shouldn’t be this obvious. She shouldn’t know. No one was supposed to know. Well, Lena had just found out herself, with the warmth that took over her chest last night when Kara didn’t think twice before hugging her by the waist and tugging her closer.
Sometimes, being ignorant was the best way of self-preservation. She lusted the moments before she knew, she lusted being able to put those thoughts back, to just be. Because now that she knew, she couldn’t unsee it.
There was something on Eliza’s knowing smile that almost made it too easy blurting out the truth, blurting out that love was too little of an emotion for what she felt. But she knew better than that.
“She’s my best friend.” The words sound wrong to her ears, they taste bad on her tongue. “Of course I love her.”
“You know that’s not what I meant.”

Summary

Kara not only has to deal with someone trying to kill her again, she also has to explain to her best friend why and how her carbon-copy is walking around LuthorCorp, and has to keep her sister from actually killing the Other Lena.
And why is it easier to talk to the Other Lena who wants to kill her than it is to talk to her actual best friend?

Lena Luthor stood at the edge of the polished marble plaza outside L-Corp’s new headquarters, her reflection caught in the towering glass behind her. It was fitting, she thought, that the building was all sharp angles and clean lines. A monument to modernity. A fortress. And yet, she felt exposed, as if the world could see through the perfectly tailored suit, the calculated poise, and into the chaos she kept tightly contained.
Reporters crowded the entrance, their voices rising in a cacophony of questions, cameras flashing like tiny explosions. “Ms. Luthor, how will L-Corp distinguish itself from LuthorCorp?” “Is this a PR move or a genuine shift in the company’s vision?” “Do you think the public can trust the Luthor name again?”
Lena kept her expression neutral, her lips curving into the faintest suggestion of a smile. It was the kind of smile that gave nothing away. She had mastered it long ago, a shield as much as a tool. Jack, her husband, stood beside her, his own smile broader, warmer, designed to disarm. His hand rested lightly on her back as they moved through the throng toward the podium, where the press conference was set to begin.

“We’re just friends,” Kara says. Just.

“No,” Kara confirms.
Lena looks back at the blue vase. She thinks if she looks at it long enough she might start feeling like the water inside- calm, content, accepting that its vessel is shoddy and imperfect.
She feels both their eyes on her. Molly’s is gentle, asking. Kara’s is insistent.
“Lena?” Kara asks, and Lena quickly looks away.
“It’s okay,” Molly says. “It looks like we have a lot to talk about.”

Their therapist is a nice old lady recommended to them by Kelly.
She’s not that old, Kara supposes. She’s fairly young, but wrinkled with stress. Kara wonders how she’s supposed to solve their problems when she seems to have so many herself.
That’s the thing, though. They don’t really have any problems. This is more of a preemptive measure. Lena wants to be here, has adopted a pro-therapy stance by osmosis from Alex and Kelly, so Kara is here too. They didn’t have therapists on Krypton. You sort of just kept things to yourself and put more into society to take your mind off it. It seemed to her like the kind of thing humans needed that she didn’t.
The therapist, Dr. Davis, has them read each other’s lists. Lena hands over two pages filled with words, front and back, and Kara holds out her pink, crumpled sticky note sheepishly.

Their therapist gives them separate assignments. Lena's is to write a list of things that make her happy, and Kara's is to write a list of things that make her sad. One of them has a harder time than the other.
