Work Text:

Noctis huffed from where he was laid on his couch. Prompto was late for their weekend-long gaming session, which wasn't like him at all. Prompto always texted him if he was going to be late. Maybe something was wrong? Or maybe he was just stuck in traffic. Yeah traffic, that had to be it. Prom would tell him if it were something else, right?

“Blondie still not answering?” Gladio asked from the other couch, not even bothering to look up from the book he was reading. Prompto had gotten him the latest book from his favourite series and he was going to finish it all.

Noctis sighed as he slid his phone back into his pocket. “No, not yet, He's probably stuck in traffic and a low cell service area or something. I’m sure he’ll message me in a little while, I got the game we’ve been dying to play since it was announced. He said he was coming over after work, but it's been a while.” He said as he slouched against the couch, there's no way it could just be traffic, the worried feeling started to grow in his gut once more

“If it's bothering you this much, why don't we go to his house and see if he is there. He possibly could've been too focused on his photography work to have noticed the time, you know how he can be sometimes.” Ignis said from the kitchen, Noctis could practically hear the smile in his voice. It was no secret that the group had grown fond of the blonde. They hadn't put a label on what their relationship was, but they all were involved with each other. But Noctis knew in his heart that he didn't want anyone else.

“Oh yeah, you’re right. We can just take the gaming party to Prom, great idea Specs.” Noctis said as he pulled out his phone, he was just gonna let Prom know they were gonna come over instead.

Noctis <6:23 pm>: Hey, we’re gonna come over instead, is that okay?

He put his phone away as he got up to start packing his console, controllers and other games up to bring with him. As he was wrapping some cables around their controllers, his phone vibrated in his pocket.

Prompto<6:31 pm>: I don't think you should come over this weekend, I'm sorry

Concern, worry and confusion grew in his gut once more. What did he mean? He wasn't usually one to stop him from going over. “Guys, I think something might be wrong with Prom, he's saying not to come over at all this weekend.” Noctis said with a frown as he sent Prompto another text. This made Gladio put his bookmark in and snap his book closed. “Alright, guess we better head on over and see what's up.” Gladio said as he stood up and stretched.

“Yes I do believe that would be a good idea, it's not like him to not jump at the first chance to spend time with all,” Ignis said as he walked out of the kitchen. And when there was no immediate reply from Prompto, Noctis had no choice but to agree.

The car ride to Promptos's house was tense and quiet, they could tell something was wrong with their blonde lover, but they didn't know what it could be. He was glad that Ignis ended up being the one to drive, he doesn't think Gladio nor himself would've been able to keep themselves from speeding. They just wanted to make sure their sunshine was okay.

Once they made it to Promptos's house, Noctis stood at the front door and stared at it for a few moments. What if this was Prompto telling them he didn't want to be around them anymore? The thought made Nocts heart sink into his stomach. Surely if that were the case, the blonde would tell him, right? In as heartbreaking as it would be, he would respect Promptos's decision. After a nudge from Gladio, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door. He waited a few moments and when there was no response, he knocked again but louder this time. This only served to worry him more.

He pulled his keys out to find the spare key Prompto had given him so long ago. A small smile formed on his face, he was a junior in high school when they first met, despite their age difference, they've always been close and practically attached to the hip during the time Noctis had left at the school. He always did enjoy their weekend or after school hangouts. He had to shake himself out of his thoughts, now was not the time.

He grabbed the right key and unlocked the deadbolt. “Prom? Are you here?” He called out as he walked inside and took his keys out of the door. He frowned a bit when he saw all the lights in the house were off. Maybe he wasn't home? He took his shoes off and walked inside. “You guys wait here, I'm gonna go check his room to see if he's home, if he's not, then I have no idea where he would be.” He said as he made his way further into the house. He really hoped the blonde wasn't blowing them off, they had this weekend planned for weeks. He just wanted to eat junk food and play video games with his best friends.

He listened out for sounds of life as he made his way through the hallway towards his bedroom. He walked up to the closed door and took a deep breath to calm his nerves before knocking. “Prom? Are you in there?” He called through the door. He nearly sagged against the door when he heard coughing from the other side. Wait, coughing? “Prom I'm coming in.” He said and completely ignored when the blonde called for him to not come in.

He felt his heart sink when he saw the state Prompto was in. “Oh, baby…” Noctis said with concern as he made his way to the bed. Prompto had become just a pile of blankets, the only way you’d know he was there was from the sniffles that came from the mound of blankets and the tufts of messy blonde hair. He frowned when he saw just how many tissues were laying around. He must really not be doing so well. He gently pulled the blanket away from Promptos face and put his hand on his cheek. “You’re burning up, how come you didn't say anything?” He asked softly, he wasn't angry or upset with him. Just worried about him.

Prompto sniffled as he tried to pull away from Noct, who just followed him. “I didn't want you to get sick or come here and take care of me, you already have too much on your plate.”

Promptos concern struck a chord in his heart. Did he think he wasn't just as important, if not even more important than his stupid duties? “Sweetheart I would drop everything I'm doing if you ever called me to help, you’re more important than paperwork.” He said and gently rubbed his thumb against his sickly pale cheek. “I will be right back. I’ll help you feel better I promise.” He said and gave the blonde a reassuring smile. Once he got a small nod from him, Noctis made his way back to the living room.

“He’s sick, I think the cold season is hitting him pretty hard.” Noctis said when he was standing in front of the older group members. They both frowned.

“Poor kid, what should we do?” Gladio said as he crossed his arms over his chest, looking over at Ignis for answers.

“I shall go look in his fridge and see what he has for soup, I'm sure something warm in his belly will help him. Gladio if you don't mind, could you go to the pharmacy and grab some cold medicine? I shall message you a list of ingredients if I need any.” Ignis said and pulled his notebook out of the inside pocket of his jacket, looking through it for a soup that would help.

“Sounds good. I'm gonna go help him clean up and maybe run him a bath as well, hopefully the steam will help his sinuses.” Noctis said and they all nodded to each other before springing into action. Gladio took the car keys from Ignis before leaving and Ignis made his way to the kitchen.

Noctis stopped at the linen closet in the hallway to pick up some fresh sheets, blankets and pillowcases before making his way back to promptos room. “Hey I'm back, lets's get you all cleaned up and comfy. Ignis is making soup and Gladio is running to the store to get you some medicine. We’ll help you through this angel.” Noctis said and smiled at him before placing the clean bedding he just grabbed onto the floor.

“You guys don't have to do this, I know you guys have busy schedules..” Prompto said from the mounds of blankets, he felt bad that they were wasting their time on him rather than their work.

“Nothing is more important than you, we’re all happy to help you, I promise.” Noctis said as he reached under the blankets to grasp at promptos hand, giving it a gentle squeeze before letting go. He then grabbed the trashcan and began putting all the tissues he could find into the bin. He tied off the bag and set it off to the side to be emptied later on. “I'm going to go run you a bath, the hot water will help your blood circulation and the steam should help your sinuses.” Noctis said as he made his way to the bathroom, but paused in the doorway. “I really am turning into Ignis, don't tell him that though.” He said with a soft laugh and looked at Prom, his heart swelled a bit when he saw the small amused smile on Promptos's pale face.

He made his way into the bathroom and set to work on the bath. He managed to find some Epsom salt in the sink cabinet that he then added to the warm water filling the tub. He read somewhere that it can help you when you are sick, he could only hope that were true. Once the bath was at a good level, he turned the faucet off and made his way back to the bedroom. “Do you think you can sit up on your own?” He asked as he moved to stand beside Prompto.

Prompto gave a weak nod as he moved to sit up. However, when Prompto started to have a coughing fit, Noctis quickly moved in to provide some much-needed support. “It's okay, let it out.” He said as he patted the other's back. When it was over he pressed a kiss to the top of the blonde's head. “Alright, let's get you into the bath.” He said as he gently unwrapped Prompto from the blankets like a sick little present and then helped him stand. “I’ll help you into the bath and then I’ll change your sheets, can't be having you go back into dirty sheets when you're all clean, can we?” He said as they slowly made their way to the bathroom.

He gently sat Prompto on the toilet seat. “Are you okay with me helping you undress, or do you think you can do it yourself?” He asked as he ran his fingers through the younger man's hair.

“Some help would be nice, thank you.” Prompto said quietly, even if this isn't the first time he and Noct have been naked around each other, it was still a little embarrassing. Noctis just smiled at him and nodded. “You got it baby.” He then reached down and grabbed the hem of his shirt, pulling it up and over his head, tossing it into the laundry basket. He helped Prompto to his feet again and helped pull his shorts and boxers down. “Careful,” He said as he helped prom step into the bath and sit down. The blonde gave a soft sigh as the warm water surrounded him. “Thank you, Noct. I appreciate it.” Prompto said as he relaxed back against the edge of the tub, closing his eyes.

“You’re welcome, sweetheart. I’ll come to get you when I finish changing your sheets, and I’ll bring some new clothes too.” Noctis said as he picked up the clothes from the floor and put them in the laundry basket as well, bringing the basket with him as he left. He made quick work of stripping the bedding and pulling the pillowcases off and tossed them to the side, he would run them through the wash in a little while. The fitted sheet gave him trouble as it always did, it was honestly his most hated part about making the bed. But once that was on the rest was a piece of cake. He picked up the pile of dirty bedding and carried them to the laundry, deciding to wash the sheets and pillowcases first. The blanket would need its own load. He also put a towel into the drier for Prom to use when he got out of the bath.

He made his way back to the bedroom and went through his chest of drawers to find some clothes for Prompto. He grinned when he saw one of his hoodies in the mix, he loved it when Prom wore his clothes. So he of course grabbed that, a pair of shorts and some boxers. When he was happy with his selection he placed them on the dresser and flopped onto the bed while he waited for the towel in the dryer to be done.

This was probably the most chores he's ever done in such a short time. Though it didn't feel like chores, he was just helping someone very important to him feel better. He knew that it wouldn't make Prompto feel immediately better, but as long as it helped? He would do it over and over again in a heartbeat

He hopped up when he heard the dryer buzz and quickly went to grab the now comfortably warm towel. He almost wanted to wrap it around himself, he loved freshly warmed clothes. They were so comfy and cosy after all! But he resisted. He made his way back to the bathroom and knocked before he walked in. "Hey, let's get you dried and into some new clothes, yeah?" He said as he closed the door behind him when he walked in.

"Sounds good." Prompto said softly, he was close to falling asleep, but he managed to keep himself awake as Noct helped him up and out of the bath. He gave a soft contented sigh as the dryer warmed the towel wrapped around him. "Thank you." He said as he rubbed his cheek against the soft material.

Noctis just gave him a soft smile as he drained the bath. He then took hold of the towel and helped rub him dry. "Hopefully you'll start feeling better, at the very least Iggy's soup will heal you up, it always does," Noct said as he wrapped the towel back around Prompto. He then wrapped his arms around him and hugged him close. Promptos eyes widened a bit in surprise before he returned Nocts embrace.

“I'm glad I came over, you shouldn't have to recover on your own.” Noct whispered as he rested his chin on Promptos shoulder. Prom could feel some tears well up in his eyes before he shut them tight and leaned against Noct. “Thank you for coming,” Prompto whispered back.

Eventually, they separated and went back to Promptos room. Prompto insisted he could at least put his boxers on by himself. And with using the bed as some support, he managed to do so. Noct then helped him get dressed the rest of the way and then helped him back into bed. Prompto did have to admit, having a bath, getting into clean clothes and having a clean bed did help him feel better. He settled back into the pile of pillows Noct left for him and gave a soft sigh as he closed his eyes. Noctis couldn't help but smile as he watched him, just as he was about to turn to leave, prom spoke.

“Come lay down too?” Prom said as he held the blanket up for Noct to climb in. Noct thought about it for a few moments, but he was never one to deny Prompto anything. He gave a soft chuckle. “How could I say no?” He said as he walked over and climbed into the bed. He laid flat on his back and pulled Prom close to lay on his chest. He felt his heart swell at the comfortable sigh prom gave as he made himself comfortable.

“Specs will come in with soup when it's done, I’ll wake you up when he comes in.” Noctis said as he rubbed up and down the other's back. He only got a nod in reply before Prompto fell asleep. He just pulled the blankets higher on them and let Prompto rest, gods knew he needed it. He rarely ever got sick, so when he fell ill? It hit him like a truck. He could only hope that Ignis’ soup helped Prompto.

He didn't even realise he had dozed off until he felt a gentle shake to his shoulder. He blinked his eyes open with a yawn and looked at whoever woke him up only to find Ignis looking at them with a fond expression and holding soup. “I saw you two were asleep so I figured we could get him to eat in bed. Gladio is here with the medicine too.” Ignis said as he sat on the edge of the bed. Noct then looked over to the foot of the bed and saw Gladio holding a bag from the chemist.

“Prom, sweetheart, soup and medicine is here, I’m going to sit you up okay?” Noctis asked as he gently shook promptos shoulder to wake him up, grinning at the cute whine that came from the blonde. “C’mon baby, you need them to get better.” Noctis urged as he moved them to a sitting position. Prompto grumbled but followed him to sit up, allowing Noctis to move him to lean back against the headboard of the bed. Prompto rubbed his eyes and yawned before he looked around him, finding three sets of eyes looking at him with a mix of fondness and concern.

“I'm glad to see you're doing okay kid, the meds should help you feel better in no time,” Gladio said as he moved to the other side of the bed and sat down, placing the medicine he bought on the bed.

“Indeed, the soup should help you regain your strength and help you fight off the cold you have right now, and I suppose having a warm meal in your belly will help you feel better too.” Ignis said with a small fond smile as he handed the soup to Prompto.

Noctis wrapped an arm around Prompto and held him against his side. “When I told you all that time ago that we would always be here to help you, I meant it every time. You’ll get over this cold in no time, I promise.” Noct said and gently squeezed him in a side hug.

Prompto looked at them as tears began to well up in his eyes again. They truly just wanted to help him, every time they proved that it always made him feel so happy and loved. They wanted him to be happy and healthy, so much so that they would drop everything just to make sure he was taken care of. It was almost too much for him to handle. He looked down at the soup in his hands as tears began falling down his face. “Thank you, this means a lot to me.” He said as he reached up to try and wipe his tears away but more would just fall to replace them.

Ignis gently took the bowl from him as he began to cry before leaning in to pull him into a hug, Noctis and Gladio joining in on the hug from either side of their youngest member.

“You needn't thank us, love.”

“He's right, sunshine, we said we would be there to help you.”

“We made a promise to you sweetheart, and we plan to keep it, we’re here whenever you need us.”

Their words just made him cry more and hug them tight. How had he survived without their unconditional support? He was forever thankful for them.
