Chapter Text
Magnifico was the man many people would either adore or envy. He was not only a very beloved king of the happy kingdom of Rosas, but he also had magical powers which included having the power to grant wishes. And not only that, but he also had a very lovely family. A beautiful wife, Amaya, and a very sweet daughter, who they had named Sol. His family was one of his top priorities. Especially his daughter, since she would inevitably take his place when she was old enough. But thankfully and hopefully, that was a long time away.
Magnifico and Sol were really close, ever since Sol had been born. At first, Magnifico was slightly disappointed, having been hoping for a son, but as soon as he held her for the first time, he knew he would love her. And so, he did.
Sol had always been curious, especially about her father’s work. She would always ask questions about how his magic worked and how wishes could even be granted. Magnifico couldn’t quite explain it to her without showing the wishes. So, he waited until she was old enough, and when Sol turned 14, Magnifico figured she was old enough to show her.
As soon as the sun rose on her 14th birthday, Sol was already up and ready, jumping on Magnifico, who had been peacefully sleeping next to his wife.
Magnifico woke up from Sol’s landing, making him groan in slight pain and tiredness. Before he could even tell Sol to go back to sleep, the girl started excitedly speaking.
“Dad! I’m fourteen today!” She announced with a bright grin on her face.
Magnifico opened his eyes, with an obviously tired expression on his face. “That’s great, sunshine…”.
She pouted and continued “You said you would show me when I’m fourteen! And I’m fourteen now!” she started impatiently moving him, a sad attempt at shoving him awake. “Please! You promised!”.
And so that’s how Magnifico woke up that day (as much as he wanted to sleep a bit more. But Amaya had told him to get up or Sol wouldn't stop). After finally getting dressed in his kingly wears, white formal royal suit with a white and blue cape, he was finally ready to deal with his overly eager daughter. The two walked together, Magnifico holding Sol’s hand as they walked to Magnifico's work chambers.
“Sol, I know you have wondered how the wishes work” He spoke. Sol simply replied by nodding eagerly, looking up at Magnifico with her bright, icy blue eyes. Even though her hair color, skin tone, and the rest of her was inherited from Amaya, the one thing Magnifico and Sol shared was that Sol inherited her father’s beautiful eye color. Magnifico glanced down at Sol, smiled and continued talking “Well, I think you’re old enough to see them”.
“The wishes, right?”.
Magnifico nodded, the two reaching the black door on one of the walls of his work room. He made a small, swift hand motion, the door opening up for him. Inside the room had many things, like things to make potions and more importantly, and interestingly, the roof of the place had glowing blue orbs. They shined and glowed. Sol’s eyes widened in awe. They were so pretty looking!
Magnifico used his magic to bring a few down. He held one at the palm of his hand and showed It to his daughter. “These are the wishes of Rosas. To keep them safe, we keep them here”.
Sol stared, awed. “Wow! They’re so pretty!” she smiled brightly. She then looked up, noticing how many there were. “Why’re there so many of them?”.
“Well, we can’t grant them all” Magnifico answered bluntly.
Sol tilted her head. She didn’t quite understand. She then asked a very short, very simple question. “Why?”.
“You see” Magnifico began explaining, “the wishes must be chosen carefully, make sure there are good for Rosas” he let the wish in his hand go, making it float back up to the other glowing blue orbs. “A ruler knows what’s right for them kingdom and what’s safe for it…and granting every single wish is not safe because some could damage Rosas, start uprisings, destroy things”.
Sol stayed quiet. She didn’t quite understand…how could something so full of life and so magical be used for bad things? She looked up at the roof, to the wishes, before looking down to the floor. Sol couldn’t help but let out the question: “Would I even be a good ruler like you, dad?”.
Magnifico had been taken aback by this question. It had basically come out of nowhere, but he got the concern. Maybe all the talk about a ruler’s duty got her nervous and anxious. He rested a hand on Sol’s shoulder.
“Sol, you’ll be great ruler like me” He reassured with a smile, “All you have to do is keep Everyone protected, safe, and happy at all costs and then, someday…when the time comes, you’ll be a fantastic ruler” he bent down to her level, “I know it”.
Sol looked at Magnifico, her eyes shining with a slight bit of resurgence of confidence. “Someday” she repeated under her breath. Someday was a long day away…but she would be ready. And she would make her dad proud.
