Chapter Text
It was an average day right outside of Hermit city. I would watch some avian hybrids that were flying high above almost reaching the clouds and the fae’s only floating centimetres off the ground. Everything was going great, no one fought over what they could or could not sell. It was surprisingly less chaotic compared to the neighbouring town of dreamton… I wouldn't say the town is corrupt, but the town was known for their bad people.
Hell, the mayor of the town got sent to prison for abusing the system.
But that was 5 years ago. The people who once lived there left, and the town is just left abandoned. The town was filled with graffiti. Otherwise, it was just an area where the horrible people go, where the self-proclaimed heroes would put all the horrible people. The only thing that is left in dreamton is that high security prison, which all the neighbouring cities use to keep the ‘villains’ locked away.
–
Then there is my home; Empirton. The place which was my safe haven. After the explosion, they had to rebuild the whole area. My sister and I broke contact with each other after the rebuilding of Empirton, we were forced out till they finished rebuilding the city. I lived with my older brother Grian which was right outside the city he works in, Hermit city. It took 3 years till it was safe to return. But my friends- my sister… well we reunited but nothing stays the same. We were different; older, wiser people who all have different goals in life, so we all went our separate ways. Losing contact with them.
I lived on in a small town on the edge of Empirton, called Tumble Town, it contained a small ranch, a jail, a saloon, and anything else that matched the wild west theme it had going on. Name something you would find in a Wild West town, you're bound to find it. I actually became good friends with the sheriff of the town, he was maybe in his late 30s at the time. Don't tell him, but he had a serious drinking problem. Not even 2 years later, I was forced to move out of Tumble Town due to some stupid people outside Empirton deciding to go around with this stuff called Skulk. So everyone was forced to evacuate, as the government didn't know if it caused harm to people.
So after that, I moved back with my older brother. I found out my best bud Joel; who I still had contact with from Empirton, had moved to Hermit city, which is one of the largest and well protected cities in the entirety of Minecraft. So 2 of my favourite people were there, whilst my sister and I lived in our brother’s home, which he spent less and less time at due to work in hermit city. So he just lent it over to me and Lizzie to stay at.
Everything is as normal as it could be…
–
A few months later…
“What do you mean Grian?!” Lizzie shouts at him, as Jimmy sat on the couch watching his older siblings fight, not knowing exactly what they are talking about.
“It’s not my fault! The stupid government is upping the stupid security system on Hermit city, meaning unauthorized people aren't allowed in here! I mean, look what they did to Empirton?!” Grian points in the overall direction of where Empirton used to stand.
“So you're just going to leave your siblings out here to die?!” Lizzie snaps back at him, she hates whenever anyone mentions Empirton. It's where she found her lover. Her brother, Empirton holds something deep in her heart.
“I can't break the law and get you guys in here!” Grian protests, trying to defend himself.
“And since when did you care about the law?!” Lizzie asks, glaring at Grian, knowing she was damn well right.
Grian shrunk himself down as he knew he had lost this fight, “I- I'll find you guys a safe place- I promise- I just need time”
“And what about these ‘heroes’ going around? Huh, Grian? What if they catch me and Jimmy? We'll be sent to Dreamton. And you know what happens there. It's always on high security there'll be no way we can escape” Lizzie crosses her arms, she doesn't like this hero thing that has been going on in Minecraft.
“I can get a job in hermit city…. I'm sure Grian can put a good word in for me, and I could- we could sneak you in” Jimmy finally spoke up and the two older stares at him then at each other.
“It's breaking the law Jimmy-” Lizzie gets cut off by Grian, “and it might just work, I know a friend of mine is looking for a new employee at his shop. He would definitely love to have Tim”
Jimmy smiles and looks at Lizzie who is a bit worried about breaking the law; unlike Grian Lizzie was a bit better when it came to the law, although some of the new laws that were popping up were going a bit too far for her likings.
“Fine” she reluctantly says, “but how is he going to get in?” She asks, raising her eyebrow.
“Simple, we break him into Hermit city, get him the job, then my friend will give him a card that would give him access to the city due to him having a job there” Grian tells Lizzie the plan as Jimmy listens in. Did I say that Jimmy was very much excited to break the law? The thought of breaking the law was nothing but thrilling, the government was fucked, and he couldn't give a crap about the law any more, nor could be give a damn about politics.
–
“There's no point trying to fly, Tim. They've got an invisible barrier keeping avians from getting in from up there. Grian then motioned Jimmy and Lizzie to follow him around the huge wall that stood in front of them covering the entire city, where not even a skyscraper from inside was in sight.
Lizzie and Jimmy followed behind, and then Grian points over to a small door that only a fae could fit through. Opening the door, and squeezing himself through, gesturing the other two to follow, after some struggle they got themselves through.
“What is this?” Lizzie dusted herself off, looking at the small door that was a block and a half tall.
“I found it outside of Stress’s little hut, she must've used it a lot when we were allowed family, but it's been inhabited for ages, so I just use it to get in and out” Grian explains as he started walking in the tight and less populated alleyways, heading over to what Jimmy and Lizzie thinks to be his apartment. As they arrive Groan tells them to stay put as Grian went over to Big Ron's, a place owned by Mumbo Jumbo who is friends with Grian.
“Mumbo! Hey” Grian puts his elbow on the counter, leaning on waiting for him. Making Mumbo jumps ever so slightly. “Grian!” mumbo fixes up his tailored suit.
“Hi, Mumbo. I have someone who maybe a help with Big Ron's. He just needs one of these things” Grian gestures to his lanyard that he had on the entire time, another law the government passed having to wear a lanyard to get to places.
“Shouldn’t he have one already? Grian y'know we can't let people from outside in. It's the law” Mumbo began to slowly realize that something was off on what Grian was saying. And Grian noticed that Mumbo was catching on by the nervous sweats on Mumbo’s forehead.
“Mumbo. He is my brother. I don't want to lose him.” Grian removes his glamour to reveal a bunch of eyes: glowing purple, on his wings that faded to white. And his face was covered by a white mask with a purple symbol.
“Yes- yes Grian! Right his way!” Mumbo panicked heading to the back, he knew that it was wrong what Groan was doing, he kept on manipulating him, forcing him to do stuff he didn't want to do. Mumbo knows he should turn Grian in. But he knows what Grian can do, and he is not losing his life by that.
Mumbo makes a card for Jimmy then passes it to Grian who was back in his usual form no longer with purple glowing eyes or the white wings which seemed to be almost double of the man's own height.
“Thank you!” Grian smiled, turning around to leave and as he opened the door to leave a purple eye floated above Grian’s head staring at Mumbo for a few seconds before disappearing. As Grian disappeared and the little bell for the door went off as the door shut.
Grian returned to his apartment to see Jimmy, Lizzie- and Joel? What was Joel doing here? And why is he tied up?
“Joel?” Grian's eyes darted right to Joel's.
“What's going on? Why is Joel tied up?” Grian adds, raising his eyebrows confused on why he was tied up.
“I heard some rustling next door, so I went to see what it was-” Joel gets cut off by Jimmy.
“Grian. We can't let him! We will be sent to prison, I can't go to prison, not again!” The blonde whined.
Grian looked at Joel then at Jimmy then back at Joel, “Joel, you wouldn't want to see your wife in prison, would you?” Joel felt multiple eyes on him, but they weren't Lizzie's or Jim’s.
“No! I- never, I love Lizzie!” Joel tried to break free of the rope that he was tied up to the chair.
“You won't tell anyone… promise and definitely not the government” Lizzie looked at Joel starting to untie Joel.
“Never! The government can go fuck themselves” Joel was eventually untied.
“Never took you for a bad boy” Lizzie kissed Joel's knuckles, flirting with him.
“Get a room, you two” Grian rolled his eyes, gagging at the pair being lovey-dovey.
“Anyway, here's your ID card, Tim” Grian tosses over Jimmy his card so Jimmy has legal access to Hermit city.
“Thanks G” Jimmy caught it sticking it on an old lanyard of Grian's before he got a new one.
“I'm glad I kept that one” Grian points out as Jimmy puts the red lanyard around his neck. As Grian's new one was purple on to match his purple eyes he has sometimes, when in use of his power.
“Ugh- they used my full name” Jimmy complains as he reads his lanyard calling him James Shadow Solidarity. No one calls him that besides his parents.
“You can get it changed” Joel says, pulling out his pocket, “mine says Joel Beans, instead of Joel SmallishBeans. Or that could be just because no one calls me Smallishbeans any more” Joel explains how his name on the ID tag
Is different.
“Mine says Grian instead of Charles” Grian adds, no one calls him that any more not since he moved to Hermit city almost 20 years ago.
“Phew” Jimmy wipes the invisible sweat, hating the idea of being called James. It just seems strange.
“Where did ya get the ID from, G?” Joel asks.
“Mumbo” Grian says proudly which Joel knows all too well what that means regardless of the time he's spent so far on Hermit city.
“Your place is lovely, Grian” Lizzie says as she had her pinkie finger intertwined with Joel's.
“Thank you” Grian hums at the complement of his apartment.
“But I couldn't help but notice there being only 2 rooms, and well there's both me and Jimmy” Lizzie adds on.
“Crap- I didn't think about that. Joel-” Grian blinks like a puppy at Joel and the other just nods, “I'll take Lizzie” Joel squeezed Lizzie's hand.
“Thank you” the other was grateful for the help. The couple soon after left going to Joel's apartment l, leaving just Jimmy and Grian.
“Thank you, G” Jimmy smiles softly at his brother, extremely grateful to be with him.
“No worries Tim. I'm just glad you're here. I can show you around, show you all my friends” Grian tells Jimmy.
Maybe one day…
