Grian lives in a world where magic only exists in fairy tales, so naturally he would keep it secret that he woke up one morning with massive wings. That is until a certain PearlescentMoon decides that she wants wings too. Now Grian and Pearl must keep their secret safe from the rest of the world. But all that could go out the window when Grian starts seeing men in black vans and purple suits around nearly every corner. And after Pearl's late night flight goes horribly wrong.An AU set in a modern city with half the cast still in high school and a lot of them on the run. (Based on some of the teams from the Life Series, but also includes a lot of Hermitcraft and Empires characters.)

“You’re coming with us?”
“I want to make sure you get there.”
Grian studied him for a moment, then asked the question that had been weighing on Mumbo’s mind the entire day. “What will you do after?”
Mumbo hesitated, then shook his head slowly. “I don’t know. Maybe head home, if there’s anything left of it. Or just… figure out what freedom feels like.” He paused, his voice barely a whisper. “If there is such a thing anymore.”
Or, Mumbo escapes captivity with two hybrids, and fights to keep them safe by finding the Hermits.
