Work Text:
Patrick often makes deliveries to the Rose residence. More and more as spring is finally approaching. The great amount of dirt in his wagon tells him something is up in the garden. David, the younger Mir. Rose meets him just outside his sprawling residence, with a scowl on his face. The scowl melts, just a bit when Patrick comes face to face with David.
“Patrick. Hi.” David’s dimple appears
Patrick tips his hat “I bought you some work clothes.”
David grimaces.
“And some of my mom’s cookies.” Patrick gives a wink.
David melts a just a little.
The meet in the back, next to David’s bedroom. “Roses?” Patrick asks.
“Apparently I have a secret admirer.” David shimmies.
“I’d buy you the whole nursery if I could.” Patrick groans.
David shakes his head and makes round circles towards the Roses. “I don’t need all that. This is really… to prove a point to an ex.”
Patrick raises his pale eyebrows. “Okay David. Let’s plant roses!”
Hours later, they are both exhausted. David serves them lemonade and gives Patrick a green carnation.
“Oscar Wilde is doing a reading if that is the kind of thing… if you would want that…”
“YES!”
“Yes?”
“You sure you want me?”
“Who do you think always requests you when we have deliveries?”
“Does that mean I have a secret admirer?”
David Shimmies, nodding cheekily.
Patrick waits just outside David’s gate, with a green boutonnière . David comes out dressed in some kind of kilt and Patrick can’t stop staring. “Look at you!” David traces Patrick’s blue clad shoulders, and Patrick can’t help but beam.
“You look absolutely amazing. Can I?” Patrick lifts a green carnation.
“Please. Patrick, this is all I need. Everything I want, really.”
Patrick offers David his hand, and they walk side by side.
