Chapter 1: A New Game

Chapter Text

He was falling.

Well, it wasn’t unusual, due to the fact he’s in the Datastream. A constant, shifting glow, that continued around him as he kept going. He was looking at the holograms since, well, there wasn’t much to look at. At least he could find something interesting on the monitor, compared to the glow of the area around. He could talk to Doc, if he was there, but he wasn’t sure if he would be in the mood.

He sighed. He missed being able to talk to the NPC’s. Even if they weren’t really alive, they made it easier. They would have thoughts and ideas, even if they were pre programmed. He missed some of them. They really brought joy, even if for a moment. All the world's he saw and how some had things that reminded him of another as if it was carrying info over (Doc said it was impossible, and merely chance). One example was the Red Winter Axe, while even under a different name, held the same memories of when he had used it.

Ren.

Oh Ren.

He saw him in a world where everyone was small and rats. He knew who he was the second he saw him. The man he knew from another world. He had the same personality, voice, and smile. It was clear. But, he didn’t remember Martyn. Then again, it wasn’t surprising, but it still stung.

He got thrown out of his thoughts when he suddenly hit the ground. He had entered a game. He looked around, trying to see where he was. It seemed like a large city, abandoned and broken. Plants grew everywhere, with the wispy and cold wind hitting him. He hadn’t changed much, unless you count the outfit, which was a simple green jacket, fingerless gloves, boots, headband, and dark green baggy cargo pants.

He started to move, trying to see if he could spot anyone. He looked at himself to see if he could find a thing to talk to Doc through. He found something in his pocket, which was a grey flip-phone. Opening it, it showed a green screen. ‘Doc?’ he typed. No response. Oh well, he was probably asleep. Martyn wasn’t quite sure what time it was for him. He did hope he was asleep, as the option that he might not be able to reach him wasn’t going to calm him down any.

As he wandered, he looked around a small shop that had been somewhat looked through. In the back, he found an axe. ‘Huh, so it's here too’ he thought. which he took along with an empty water bottle. He kept walking before the sound of crunching. He scanned the area. A small shape, one that looked like a deer had stepped out onto the street in front of him. It stared at him, watching. He walked closer to it as it just. . . .  .  .stared. Its black eyes watched him as he moved closer, never looking away.

Once he moved a bit closer, its mouth suddenly opened. Instead of it being normal, the mouth opened down part of the neck almost fully to the stomach as it let out a large howling scream. “THAT'S NOT A DEER!” he yelled, as he tried to run away as it gave chase, with more screams echoing through the empty streets. He tripped as he ran and fell back, quickly shooting back as the thing approached and got ready to try and eat him. Suddenly, a gun shot was heard as it screamed, bullet wounds bleeding as it fell over and screamed before going silent.

Martyn looked up to where the gun shot was heard, and spotted a person. They had somewhat long hair, some put in a quick ponytail. They had a red jacket, dark shirt and dark pants similar to his own. Their eyes were covered by glasses, as they held a shotgun. He knew only one person who dressed like that.

They walked over to Martyn. “You good dude?” they asked, holding out their empty hand to help Martyn up. That was his voice. “Yep, thanks” he responded, getting up with their help before looking at them. “You should be more careful, those monsters like to hide in normal forms.” they said. He snorted, “Well, I'm not from these parts, so I wouldn’t know.”. “But, thanks for saving me there. Names Martyn Inthelittlewood, he/him” He held out his hand to shake. They took it and said “Nice to meet you, names Rendog, he/him.” he greeted with a smile.

Chapter 2: Willows Haven

Chapter Text

Martyn followed Ren through the crumbling buildings as he spoke. “I have a place not that far from here, it's safe so we should go there.” he said as he walked under a piece of a building that had fallen down. While they kept walking, the  sun began to lower as the area around them changed from being in a city to being in a more open, rural area.

“There it is!” Ren excitedly said. It seemed like a large stone wall, with spikes on the outside. He walked closer, staring at the large wall in front of him. “Come on in!” Ren said, opening the large metal door and walking inside. The inside was a large ring with the stone wall all around it. It had a large open area of plants, a house with a chimney that was up against the other side of the wall, a pen with a few animals, a well, and a large willow tree in the middle, that sits in the middle of a circle of stone. It seems to be some sort of altar, as it has candles in front of it.

“This is Willow Haven! I made this place by myself.” he said, closing the door behind them. “This place looks great.” Martyn said with a smile. “I’ll show you the house” Ren said as he led him to the home. The inside was nice, with a fireplace and all. Ren pointed at a room “That ones a spare, so you can sleep there. I’m gonna go feed the animals, so if you need anything just yell” before heading out. Martyn walked into the room and looked around, before setting his axe on a self. ‘Even if I can’t sleep, this will be a nice space to relax’

After putting his stuff away, he walked outside and looked around at everything. He climbed up a ladder to get on the wall, and looked over the area. He spotted a monster not far from them, however it was busying itself by eating the meat of some rotting animal. The creatures seemed large and furry, as if they hoped someone would mistake them for a poor hound and feed them. “Hey Ren?” he called down to the dark haired man, who was giving food to one of the cows. “Yeah?” he responded, looking up “What do the monsters do exactly? Like, do they have any abilities we should worry about?”

“Well most of them are fairly normal, they act more like wolves” Ren climbed up the ladder as he spoke. Once he had climbed up he moved next to Martyn “But there are those that disguise, you saw one, and those that play off fear.”. “Play off fear?” Martyn questioned. “Oh yeah, some turn into things you fear if you get too close. They do that so they can slow your reactions.” Ren responded, looking over the area.

“Huh.” Martyn said, as he turned to look at a group of doves that soared over them, letting out coos. ‘I hope I don’t run into one with you.’ he thought, before Ren stood up and turned back towards the inside. “I’m gonna make dinner, do you want anything?” he asked, as he moved over to the ladder. “Steak if you can make some.” He said as Ren started climbing down. “Got it dude!” he said and once he got to the bottom he asked “You gonna come down or?”. “No, not yet. I’m gonna chill here a bit” Martyn said, looking at Ren. “Alright, I’ll let you know when I’m done!” He responded, before walking away to go cook the food.

Martyn watched him before he turned to look at his flip-phone. ‘Doc please, tell me you can reach me’ he typed. No response. ‘He can’t reach me’ he thought. It was a worrisome one. Without connection to Doc, he couldn’t leave this place. This place that seemed to haunt him, like a hound chasing a rabbit. Martyn knew what this was, or what it was supposed to be. Dogwarts. The place that was their home. The place he met Ren and the place he died with Ren. It was here. And Ren was here, alive.

‘For now’, his mind whispered like the wind as he tried to push the thought away as quickly as it came. He couldn’t hurt Ren, not again. He turned to look at the Willow, standing tall as the light wind rustled its branches. ‘I promise I won’t hurt him again’ he thought. ‘Lies’ his mind whispered. Every place they meet each other feels like a dream and a nightmare. He had the man he wanted, but for how long? How long until his red blood coated his hands. How long until his eyes faded till there was nothing behind them? How long, until he held an axe to Ren's heart, and broke it?

He decided to climb down from the wall before he did anything. ‘So Ren wouldn’t have to worry about getting your body back from against the wall’ his mind whispered. He tried to block out the thought as he climbed down the ladder. “Hey, dude!” he heard, turning to the side to see Ren walking over “I cooked some of my meat, so we got dinner finished!”. Martyn burst out laughing at Ren “OH MY VOID, YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT!” he wheezed, crouching over on the ground. “Oh-oh uh my bad” Ren responded, chuckling “I guess that came out wrong!”.

“You guess?” chuckled Martyn, who started to stand up again. “Oh, that was great.” he looked up at Ren who quickly responded “Anyway, what I was trying to say is that dinner is done.” Martyn kept chuckling as he followed Ren, who was flushed slightly and trying his hardest to look annoyed, but kept laughing. Martyn, for once, didn’t worry about the past or future as he playfully teased the taller of the two. He didn’t worry about the death that may occur, or the blood that may be spilled as he watched Ren laugh and smile at him, in a way that made his heart jump. Even if it was only for a moment, he was happy. It was him and Ren, for just a moment, being happy.

Chapter Text

Martyn watched as rain poured outside the window. The sound of rain and the crackle of the fireplace were a soft ambiance, as the four dogs that Ren had sat in front of the fire warming themselves (Ren had named one Obi while Martyn named the white large one, Tilly).

He sat under a blanket, wrapping it around him and over his head like he was trying to make a cocoon. He didn’t really mind storms, honestly they were fine most of the time. However, this wasn’t a normal storm

A clap of thunder occurred, causing Martyn to flitch and hide more under the blanket. He hated thunderstorms. He hated how every time he heard them, he could almost hear the sound of death. The sound cries and screams as a person's soul is taken. It reminded him of when he first met Ren. He met him in that place of blood, where everyone worried about living to the next day.

The abrupt sound of the door slamming open made him flinch as he turned over spotting Ren, with his jacket soaked and hair stuck to his head. “Dude, it's pouring right now!” he said with a chuckle as he removed his wet muddy boots and layers. Martyn tried to ignore the thoughts that popped into his head and the blush that covered his face, while he watched him pull off his wet shirt showing his chest.

“Go take a shower, I don’t want to have to deal with a wet muddy blanket.” Martyn said as he relaxed back into the blanket, hoping Ren didn’t see his blush. “Alright!” Ren said, heading to go take a shower. Martyn watched him walk over to the bathroom before looking at the object in his hands.

In his hands was the flip-phone that should connect him to Doc. He hadn’t been able to reach Doc. He had been trying to contact him for the past week, ever since he arrived here. But, no luck. The storm wasn’t helping his chances. A sudden loud thunder, caused him to flinch and bury himself more under the blanket.

He hoped that the storm would be over soon as he tried to hide more under the blanket while Tilly walked over to see if he had any treats. “No treats ight now Tilly.” he said as the white dog sniffed around before going back to the fire. ‘I wonder if Pearl would be happy.’ he thought as his mind wandered to a memory from long ago.

—---------------------------------------------------------------------{}------------------------------------------------------------------

Red.

He was covered in red. Red along his hands and chest, like flowers blooming on a bush. The red coated the diamond axe he held. He stared at his hands and the axe, trying to force himself to not shake. He couldn’t fall apart. Not now. He stood there for what felt like hours before a tall dark shadow approached from behind.

“Mi hand.”. The voice reminded him of a cracking fire, yet still calm as water flowed. He turned to see his Ren. He stood tall and proud, as if he didn’t just get murdered by his own right hand man. His eyes showed a dark deep red and his neck had a glowing scar.

A sign of what had happened. He also had some red on him, although far less than Martyn. “Mi Lord,” he said, getting on one knee and holding his head down as a show of respect. “Wonderful job, mi Hand.” Ren said, smiling at Martyn, his tail wagging slightly (He was happy? How could he be?). Martyn smiled not looking up.

He hoped Ren didn’t notice the way he shaked, or the way his eyes showed fear. He hoped Ren didn’t question why he left to go get supplies and check around the area. What he did know, was only the birds heard him cry. The forest kept his sobs well hidden, like they knew that he wished to not be heard. And no one noticed if after he was on edge, and often fearful of holding the Axe.

But, then again, why would they care?

—---------------------------------------------------------------------{}------------------------------------------------------------------

He was brought out of his memories by the couch dipping as Ren sat next to him. Martyn quickly moved the blanket more over him and away from Ren. “Hey!” Ren chuckled with a sound of annoyance “I want some of the blanket, I’m still kinda cold!” he said as he reached for it only for Martyn to hold it further away from him.

“Well if you were more dry, then I would let you have it!” Martyn said. Ren fake pouted at him, which caused him to roll his eyes. “Well, I didn’t want to go outside, but SOMEONE left some of the wood outside that we need to light the fire!” he said, shoving Martyn to the side.

A sudden clack of thunder made Martyn stop and hide himself more under the blanket. He could feel the fear that always seeped through his body, like a feeling of cold that spread throughout.

He felt like he was back there, in the world where he had to kill and be killed over, and over, and over again. He could sense Ren staring at him as he closed his eyes, trying to ignore the way he shaked nervously.

He shouldn’t be scared of some storm! He should be stronger than this! He had been strong before, many times. ‘Someone is dead’ his mind whispered ‘You need to kill him now, before it's too late and he stabs you in the back’. The whispers reminded him of the whispers that filled his mind in the ‘games’ (They were no game, it was hell).

He didn’t notice that Ren had moved the blanket off his head and had pulled it around himself (it was going to get wet) until Ren pulled him into a hug, keeping the blanket around him. Martyn opened his eyes as Ren moved his head so it was laying on his shoulder. “I know you're scared, and I know you're panicking, but I’m here. I’m here, and I’m not leaving you.” Ren whispered as he held Martyn close.

“I’m not letting anyone hurt you. I promise” he muttered. For some reason, whether it was the storm, the memories, or just the fact that Ren out of every person was there, Martyn started crying into Ren’s shoulder. He cried, letting some of the pain seep out. He couldn’t voice anything, but even Ren holding him was enough. Holding his king crush lover friend.

After a while, Martyn stopped crying and pulled back from the hug to wipe his eyes and sit, with Ren letting go of him. “You doing okay dude?” Ren questioned, looking at Martyn with eyes full of worry. ‘No I'm not, not ever since I got here’ he thought before answering “Yeah, I’m doing alright now.” with a slight smile (he would believe him if he smiled, he always did). “That's good.” Ren said with a smile.

Martyn looked at the flip phone, before setting it down on a small table next to the couch. “What's that?” asked Ren. “Oh, it's a phone that I use to talk to my buddy Doc. But it stopped working the day I found you.” Martyn said, holding it out to show Ren. Ren looked at it for a moment before saying “Wait, there's a place in the city that has a lot of tech stuff. If we go there we can for sure find something to help you!”.

Martyn looked at him “Really?”. Ren nodded, “We can go in a few days.”. Martyn looked down at the flip phone. He may be able to talk to Doc, if it truly does help. That would mean he would have to leave when Doc told him to however. Martyn set the phone aside, deciding to worry about something else.

“I hate storms” Martyn grumbled as another clap of thunder could be heard. Ren thought before saying “What if we do something to get our minds off the storm!”.

“Really?” Martyn said, raising an eyebrow at Ren. ‘This couldn’t go well’ he thought looking at the dark haired man. “Oh, have some faith!” he said with a snort, as he acted like he was hurt that Martyn didn’t believe him in the slightest. “Okay, what game do you have in mind?” Martyn said, stretching a bit.

“Two truths and a lie!” He smiled, “You know how to play, right?”

“Of course” Martyn responded “Do you want to go first?”. “Sure!” Ren said before thinking for a moment before saying “Alright, which is the lie? I used to talk in old English for a full year, I am dating someone, or I led a horse into a lake.”

Martyn thought. Ren had obviously done the first if he knew the other versions of him good enough, the last one was something he would do (he's a little bit stupid but it added to his charm). The second one was the only one that wouldn’t be true (at least he hoped not as it would make his life worse).“The second one?” he said, trying to not sound hopeful. Ren smiled before saying “Yep!”

‘Well at least I don’t have to worry about someone else’ he thought before pausing, “Why did you drive a horse into a lake?”.

“Oh uh yea, my old buddy, Etho told me to do so I did. It didn’t really end well” He chuckled. Martyn thought to himself as he watched Ren, his mind wandering to the other dogwarts members. They were wonderful allies. He hadn’t seen them outside of the games however. It was just Ren. It was always Ren. He looked at the previously mentioned man with a smile.

The game kept going for a while, until the thunder had gone and it was late. Martyn yawned as he leaned against Ren. They sat there peacefully for a while, watching the fire burn as Ren added logs a bit before. “I have a stupid question,” said Ren suddenly. “Yea?” Martyn yawned.

“Do you think we are friends in every universe?” Ren asked, which caused Martyn to wake up a bit more. How was he supposed to respond to that? “I think so.” Martyn said simply “But,” he paused, as Ren looked at him “I don’t think it would be the best” he said, looking away from Ren.

“How so?” asked Ren. “I just-,” he stops trying to think of a good way to say it without revealing anything. “I hurt people a lot. If I was with you I would hurt you too.” He looks away. Silence covers the two before he feels a hand cup his face and moves it so he's looking at Ren. “Ren?” he asks, staring at the man's eyes. They are filled with emotions, concern, worry and some other emotion he refuses to name.

“Martyn, I wouldn’t care if you hurt me. I would be by your side no matter what” He softly smiled at Martyn, who smiled back before glancing at his lips and then looking back up at his. Their faces were close, if Martyn just moved his face closer he could-

Martyn hummed as he leaned his cheek against Ren's hand, looking at Obi, who was now laying on Tilly fast asleep.

“What do you think we would be in another world?” Ren asked.

“I don’t know, other than the basic animal thing. You as a wolf and me prolly as a dog since we have to be our favorite animals in one world” he said with a slight snort, as he thought about the games. ‘Ren was part wolf there’ he thought.

“I feel like I would be a king in one world, and you would be by my side!” Ren spoke with a smile. “Like, as Queen orr?” he asked, watching as Ren blushed and moved his hands to his lap while Martyn moved his head to the back of the couch. “I-I mean like a second in command warrior, like you as my right hand dude.” he said quickly looking away. “You could have just said that,” Martyn laughed while Ren chuckled at himself. ‘We could be side by side’ his mind whispered ‘If I could only tell you that I love you’.

Martyn yawned as he head against his chest, feeling the way Ren paused before hugging him. “I’m gonna take a nap.” he said before he fell asleep in Ren’s arms. ‘I love you’ his mind whispered as he entered the land of dreams.

—-------------------------------------------------------------?--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ren smiled as he held Martyn against his chest. The blonde man was fast asleep. He moved some of Martyns hair out of his face to see him. He watched Martyn, seeing how calm he was for once. Ren just watched for a moment as his blush from before remained.

‘Why did I hold his face? I shouldn’t have done that’ he thought as he stared at Martyn. Martyn looked so pretty. He always did. He spoke softly to not wake him “I won’t lose you. Not this time Martyn, not this time.”. Ren moved and pressed a kiss to Martyn’s head.

“Goodnight mi hand” He said softly, before following Martyn and falling asleep.

Chapter Text

Martyn grunted as he climbed over a small concrete wall (or what a piece of a highway road that acted like a wall). Once he had slid down the slight incline, he turned to spot Ren who glanced around before sliding down. “I don’t see any monsters.” he said as he walked alongside Martyn. “Is that a good or bad thing?” Martyn asked, walking over to a door that led into the mall.

“Depends on if there are any here. If there are a few, we haven’t spotted them yet which could be trouble.” Martyn hummed at Ren's response before holding up the axe to hit the lock on the door, smashing it open.

“You first.” Martyn said, moving out of the way for Ren to walk in. Once he walked in he could see how large the mall was. The glass roof had holes in it which would explain the fact that there are tons of puddles and flowers everywhere. He followed Ren who climbed up an escalator. “This place doesn’t look like it's been searched much, which means we should get the stuff we need,” Ren said as he reached the second floor.

Martyn followed him up, saying “Well maybe we can find something that I can actually cook”. “You can cook, you're not THAT bad.” Ren said, walking towards one shop to look inside. “Ren, I burnt food a few days ago.” Martyn said with a grumble “That was one time!” Ren said, trying to defend Martyn to which he huffed “I burnt soup, Ren. SOUP!”. Ren chuckled the same way Martyn loved as he walked around to look inside the many shops.

Martyn followed suit, looking into a few of the shops before spotting a tech shop down one of the large halls. “Ren!” he yelled to Ren who ran over. “Did you find anything?” he asked as he got next to Martyn. “I think I see the shop.” Martyn pointed at the tech shop.

“Great!” Ren led him down the hall before entering the shop. As Ren looked at the many items, Martyn leaned on the wall outside. He sat listening to the sound of dripping water and the occasional sounds from Ren grabbing stuff from inside.

He suddenly heard a slight shuffling from further down the hall. He looked down the hall as the sound got slightly louder. “Ren?” He asked, turning towards the shop before looking back to see that one of the lights had turned on and under it stood a wolf, staring with red eyes. He froze as he and the wolf kept staring before the wolf suddenly shifted to become larger and more distorted, growing more faces on its neck before charging at him.

“REN!” he shouted before he got hit by the wolf and knocked more towards the main area. He hit the floor with a yelp, his back getting scratched by the rocks that littered the floor. The beast moved closer, charging again before biting him and throwing him more to the main area.

He fell again, but quickly stood to look at the beast. It had brown grey fur, with deep red eyes, and it had bones jutting out of its head that looked like a crown. It ran at him, grabbing him suddenly before slipping and crashing off the small balcony onto the first floor, lucky not hitting him against the escalator. He shoved the axe’s handle against its body, to which it let go of him and ran into the darkness of the shadows. He quickly got up, and looked around.

The beast seemingly vanished and ran away into the shadows. He checked himself to make sure he didn’t break anything. He then heard a call from the upstairs area “Martyn?”. He looked at the escalator, seeing Ren running down. “You good dude?” he asked as he ran over to martyn. “Yep, yep, I’m fine.” he said as he stood, only for Ren to hug him. Martyn paused, before wrapping his arms around Ren. ‘This is nice’ he thought, just holding onto Ren before he closed his eyes. He didn’t notice anything, too busy hugging his Ren.

*Shing*

Martyn doubled over, pain shooting up his back and side as he fell to the ground and out of Ren’s arms as he moved his hand to his side. He moved his hand from where it had quickly grabbed to find blood covering it. He looked up at Ren, who smiled showing sharp in-human teeth. “That's not Ren.” he realized, watching as its form shifted, showing the fact that it wasn’t truly him.

They watched him as his mind scrambled to try and rethink the fact that Ren wasn’t here, and that the beast could turn into Ren, which would make it five times harder to fight. He didn’t want to fight anything or anyone that reminded him of Ren. He stared, only for it to chackle. “Oh the look on your face!” It laughed at him. It looked at him, watching “I love this form, but I think I sense there is a different one that's much more fun~” it said, before its body twisted and turned, changing. A crown appeared along with a large cape. The outfit changed to match as it stared at him still smiling. “Recognize this form? I sensed you would” it chuckled, as Martyn moved to stand, holding the axe tight in his hands.

He watched as it moved closer, stepping closer as he stood up, holding the axe tighter in his hands. It snarled before launching itself at him, to which he blocked their claws with the handle of his axe. He quickly pushed them away, before trying to hit its side to no eval. It ran away into the darkness, before charging.

He watched as it circled him, before running at him again, however this time he kicked them with his foot, sending them to the ground. As it moved onto its to look at him he raised the axe to hit it, but sputtered and stopped. “Comeon, hit me.” it snarled. He stared at its face.

It wasn’t him. And yet, as he watched them the only thing that came to mind was Ren’s smiling face. The man he had started out chasing. He had changed him in every world until he realized it was hopeless. After that, he stopped chasing, and yet he kept seeing him. It was almost like no matter what the two of them were connected by some force. Call it destiny, chance, or them being soulmates, but they always found each other. He remembered when he first saw Ren, in place with three lives shining different colors. The man had stolen his heart in that world, and Martyn didn’t mind that he did. Sure, Doc might have told him off for rambling about Ren telling him “He’s an NPC” and that “It didn’t matter”, but Martyn always ignored it. This man was his everything.  He couldn’t do it. Even if it wasn’t really him, he couldn’t cut their head off. He couldn’t live with the pain of doing it again

Martyn dropped the axe to the side, looking at his feet. It got up, looking at him before moving closer. Martyn stared at his feet as they moved their hands to the sides of his face to hold his head up to theirs. His eyes met red eyes. He heard a snort from them as they spoke "You're weak. You can't even kill me." They laughed as Martyn just sat there, not moving away from the beast. "Aww, is your love for him so much that you won't kill someone who looks like him?" They smiled. "Or, is it because you don't want to kill him again?"

Martyn didn’t move as tears started rolling down his face. He couldn’t. He knew he should be able to shove it down, and yet he just stared as they smiled and dug their clawed hands into the sides of his face. He suddenly heard a loud sound.

*CRACK*

As the crack of the gunshot went out, the beast let go of him, moving back as it screamed. He fell to the floor as he noticed it was shot in the leg causing it to move, trying to reach the shadows. The gun was shot again, hitting its neck and causing it to fall to the floor, eyes looking up at him as its eyes turned empty.

"Martyn?" A voice yelled distantly. Martyn moved to stand but fell down to his knees again. He heard more yelling before someone grabbed him and a hand moved to his cheek to raise his gaze. His eyes met blue not red. It was Ren. His Ren, not any of those fake memories. "R-ren." He whispered, trying to speak although the wounds on his body made it feel like he was speaking underwater. "Ren, i-im sorry."

"Ren, i-im sorry." He said as he started crying harder. "Why are you sorry?" Ren asked, looking nervous. "I-i don't think I can make it." He moved his hand from where he was holding it against the stab wound.

Ren looked at the wound before he looked at Martyns face again. "No-No-no, you're not dying here."

"I'm sorry, Ren." He said leaning against the dark haired man, as tears kept falling. He sat there feeling how Rens heart was beating quickly. "No." Ren said quickly before moving to open his bag. "I'm not losing you." He said as he grabbed his medical supplies from his bag and moved martyns shirt so he could see the wound and began to cover it. Martyn kept breathing in and out in gasps as Ren patched him  up. Once Ren had wrapped it up in a quick bandage, he took off his jacket and wrapped it around Martyn, before pulling him into his arms bridal style.

He grabbed his bag and put it on his back. He then quickly started moving heading outside of the mall. Martyn struggled to stay awake as he kept bleeding. "Just hold on a little bit longer Martyn, please." Ren said as he kept running. Martyn stayed awake for a Lil bit before he passed out.

Chapter Text

Martyn opened his eyes, only to close them when the light blinded him. He groaned from the aches that he could suddenly feel the pain. He opened his eyes again and let them adjust. Once he could see he looked around.

He was laying on the couch, with a blanket on him. He had a shirt on and a pair of shorts, both of which were not his. He tried to get up from laying down, but once he tried he felt the pain come back, causing him to groan again and go back to laying down. He suddenly noticed that Ren was laying next to him, seemingly asleep. Martyn looked over Ren. His hair was a mess and so was his clothes. He looked tired, which explained why he was fast asleep. ‘Was he not sleeping because of me?’ Martyn thought, which caused him to blush slightly. Martyn softly said “Ren?”.

Ren suddenly flinched before rubbing his eyes and turning to him, before suddenly hugging him. “Martyn!” Ren said as he pulled back a little bit from the hug, looking at Martyn with an excited and nervous smile. “Hi” Martyn whispered to which Ren smiled more, although Martyn could see tears in his eyes. “You look like shit.” Martyn said, moving one of his hands through Ren's hair.

Ren let out a wet chuckle, as he looked at Martyn “I was just so nervous, so I stayed by your side”. Martyn looked at him as Ren looked to the side. “If I’m being honest to you, I-I was so worried that you-you wouldn’t wake up” Ren said as he sniffled, with some tears falling. Martyn pulled him into a hug again saying “I'm fine Ren. I’m not going to leave you.”. Ren hugged back. ‘I don’t want to leave you. Not after last time.’ Martyn thought. After a while, Ren pulled back, sniffing a bit. Martyn watched him before he tried to sit up and fell back again from pain. “Oh, does it still hurt a lot?” Asked Ren with worry clear in his voice.

“A bit.” Martyn said. “Well hopefully you should start to feel better soon.” Ren replied as he played with part of Martyn’s hair, much to his fake annoyance. “You can sleep Ren, I can tell you need it” He said after Ren yawned. “Alright, alright.” Ren huffed before he put his head against Martyn’s chest, causing his face to go red before quickly hugging Ren. Martyn lay there for a few minutes just relaxing before he heard slight snores coming from Ren. Martyn looked at Ren’s face. He was so relaxed asleep. It reminded him of when they got those small breaks at night during the games. He got to watch Ren be peaceful for just a moment. Martyn just sat there before he kissed Ren’s head. “Sleep well.” he said.

—----------------------------------{}---------------------------------------

“Did I ever tell you I know how to play guitar?” Ren said as he sat on the couch watching Martyn play with both of the dogs. “No, you never did.” martyn said, turning to him. “Well, I can play a song right now if you want” Ren said to which Martyn got up and sat next to him “Well if you feel comfortable then yeah.” Martyn said. Ren got up and grabbed a guitar that sat next to the wall before sitting next to him. Martyn watched as he started to play and then sang.

“Moon, a hole of light. Through the big top tent up high. Here before and after me, shinin' down on me. Moon, tell me if I could, send up my heart to you?~” Martyn watched as Ren played, smiling softly. “So, when I die, which I must do, could it shine down here with you?” Martyn looked away as he heard him sing that part. It reminded him too much of the past. Of the reason why he was hurt. He touched the area where he was bandaged lightly.

“'Cause my love is mine, all mine. My love mine, mine, mine. Nothing in the world belongs to me, but my love, mine, all mine, all mine” Martyn looked at him, watching the way Ren lightly played with a slight smile. He noticed the way his eyes looked almost like there were tears in them.

“My baby here on Earth, showed me what my heart was worth. So when it comes to be my turn, could you shine it down here for her?” Martyn smiled at him, before Martyn looked at his lips before looking back up to his eyes, to which he blushed and looked away.

“'Cause my love is mine, all mine, my love mine, mine, mine. Nothing in the world belongs to me. But my love, mine, all mine

Nothing in the world is mine for free, but my love, mine, all mine, all mine” Martyn looked at Ren to see him smiling softly at him. Martyn blushed even more and looked away, to which Ren stood up and set the guitar to the side. It was silent for a second before Ren coughed and said awkwardly as he turned to look at Martyn “Sooooo, did you like it?”.

Martyn looked at him as he said “I loved it.”. Martyn noticed the way his face turned more red “Aw thanks”. Martyn chuckled at his embarrassment to which Ren just smiled at him. “Come on, do you want to play cards?” Martyn asked as Ren moved to sit next to him again. “As long as you don’t cheat, I’m fine with playing cards” Ren said to which Martyn gasped “What!? I would never !”. Ren just shoved him a bit to which Martyn shoved him back.

—----------------------------------{}---------------------------------------

“Hey, Martyn.” Ren said to which Martyn turned from the cows he was feeding. “Yeah?” he asked, giving the cows the rest of their food before walking over. “I wanted to give you this.” Ren held out the flip phone to Martyn. It looked like it had some new stuff attached to it. “I know you wanted it to be able to talk to your buddy, so I fixed it.” Martyn took it and opened it, seeing the green screen. He typed in to test it.

Martyn - Doc?

After a second a message popped up

Doc - Martyn?

He smiled and looked up at Ren “It works!”. He looked up at Ren and said “Thanks. This means a lot.” Ren smiled at him and said “Of course. Anything for you.”. Martyn smiled at him, hoping he didn’t notice the blush on his face before heading off to use it. He walked indoors to his room and closed the door before pulling it out again and responding to Doc with a simple message.

Martyn - Yep its me

Doc - Oh thank goodness.

Doc - I haven’t been able to reach you for a while.

Doc - What's been happening?

Martyn - Quite a bit

Martyn explained everything as best as he could to Doc. From when he first arrived, to when he got in a fight with a monster (not mentioning that it turned into Ren or that he didn’t kill it), and that he was now recovering. Martyn avoided mentioning Ren, ‘If I did mention him it wouldn’t go well with Doc.’ he thought with a sigh. He looked at the screen as he thought ‘Wait, he might know the answer to why I had to get parts to fix this thing up’

Martyn - Why did it take a bit to reach me?

Doc - The world seems to be glitched in some way. Like it wasn’t supposed to exist, or it's unfinished.

Doc - Which means you shouldn’t have entered in the first place, but its glitchy nature dragged you in

Martyn frowned at that. ‘So I wasn't supposed to be here? But, Ren is here, so how is he here?’

Doc - Good news is that I can open a portal for you to leave.

Doc - There's a no longer working portal a mile or two from where you are

Doc - Just go there and attach the phone and it *should* work

Martyn blinked in surprise ‘I can leave soon!’ He thought before he remembered Ren. ‘I promised I wouldn’t hurt him.’ he thought before quickly messaging Doc

Martyn - But, I don’t want to leave

Doc - So you found the NPC named Ren again I take it?

Martyn grumbled at that comment.

Martyn - Yes, although I would like it if you didn’t say it like that

Doc - Like what?

Martyn - Like he's just a NPC and nothing more

Doc - He is though.

Martyn looked at the message with annoyance, as if the message itself had attacked him.

Doc - Martyn.

Doc - You have to stop living in your fantasies.

Doc - He's not real.

Doc - He will never be.

Martyn grumbled with anger

Martyn - Shut up

Doc - I know that you miss everyone who you left when you entered the data stream, but attaching yourself to the NPCs isn't going to make life easier.

Martyn - Shut up

Doc - Martyn

Martyn - SHUT UP

Martyn - JUST SHUT UP

Martyn - I DON'T CARE IF HE'S NOT REAL, I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE HIM

Martyn - JUST SHUT UP

Martyn looked at the screen. Doc said nothing. Martyn didn’t even notice that tears were rolling down his cheeks as he stared at his screen. He threw the phone, with it landing on the bed before he knocked over a few of the books and papers he had in his room as he basically screamed. He threw things around, only stopping after he had gotten most of his anger out. The room was a mess. He was crying. He tried to rub his eyes to make it stop.

He heard the door open as he rubbed his eyes. “Martyn?” Ren asked as he walked through the door. “Yeah?” Martyn asked, hoping that he didn’t sound like he was just crying. “Are- are you okay?” Ren asked, moving near Martyn, seemingly ignoring the way the room was a mess. “Y-yeah just got upset.” Martyn said not meeting his gaze. He suddenly felt Ren grab him and pulled him into a hug, to which Martyn leaned against him. ‘I don’t want to leave.’ he thought as he hid his face on Ren's shoulder. ‘Why are we cursed?’ he thought ‘Why?’. He just kept holding onto Ren, hoping that he wouldn’t have to let go.

—----------------------------------{}---------------------------------------

Martyn sat on the couch with his phone open in front of him. He looked at all the messages. Him and Doc hadn’t been talking again after the fight a few days ago (Although it was more of him yelling at Doc then anything). He had fully recovered, although Ren was still protective of him. Ren hated Martyn being out of his sight since the battle, not that Martyn minded. He also hated being away from Ren for fear that he wouldn’t really be his Ren. Ren stayed by the couch where Martyn had rested for a while.

But, he didn’t need to sleep on the couch anymore. “Hey Martyn?” Martyn looked up to see Ren. “Is-is it alright if we . . . .  . share my bed tonight? I don’t want you to be lonely but I don’t think sleeping on the floor is the best idea for me long term.” He said with a slight nervous chuckle.

“That's fine with me” Martyn relpiled to which Ren smiled and walked to his room with Martyn following after he closed the flip phone. Ren opened his door and entered, with Martyn following after. The room was fairly decorated, with a few random items spread around the room. Martyn moved to sit on the bed and got under the covers, while Ren looked through his small closet

“I’m just gonna change real quick, so make yourself comfy.” Ren said, before taking off his shirt, which definitely didn’t cause Martyn’s mind to go blank as he stared at Ren’s back and bare shoulders. He kept staring before he noticed that Ren had turned to look at him over his shoulder. He froze as Ren smirked and turned to face him, stretching a bit. “Like something you see?~” Ren said smugly.

Martyn had given up on trying to stop the blush that covered his face. “Maybe~” Martyn said as Ren walked over to the bed and got under the covers next to Martyn. Ren chuckled as he moved to curl against Martyn. “Why are we like this?” He chuckled to which Martyn simply replied “Eh, probably cause we are idiots.”. Martyn cuddled close against Ren who just smiled as he put his face against his chest. “Good night Ren.” Martyn said softly to which Ren responded “Good night Martyn.”. Martyn waited a while until he knew Ren was asleep before he lightly played with his hair.

‘I don’t want to leave him. My love Ren’ he thought as he watched Ren sleep. His mind wandered back to him and Doc’s old conversation. ‘I can’t stay here.’ he thought ‘Every other world I see you I hurt you one way or another. Maybe I should just avoid you.’. He stared at Ren's sleeping form, peaceful and unaware of the pain Martyn felt. He could stay. It's not like staying would kill him. But, he missed his family, his friends, everyone. He couldn’t stay here with Ren. The best thing to do was to hurt him one last time and then avoid him. He pulled out the flip phone and quickly messaged Doc, before closing it and setting it aside.

Martyn - I’ll leave through the portal tomorrow night

—----------------------------------{}---------------------------------------

‘I wished I wouldn’t reach this day’ Martyn thought as he grabbed his backpack. He looked in his now empty room, with only a note sitting on the bed that he hadn’t slept in for a while. He sighed as he closed the door and walked through the house lightly to make sure he didn’t wake up Ren. As he walked outside into the cold night, he looked around. He wished to keep this place ingrained in his memories. He walked around towards the doors leading to outside the walls and his exit.

He noticed something that looked off. Under the willow tree, were a few lit candles. He walked over and moved under the branches to see what the candles were for. Once he had moved through fully he noticed it seemed to be a grave of sorts. It was a bunch of candles, some lit and some unlit. He looked up on the tree where he saw something that made him freeze. It was a painting of . . . . . . . him. But not this version of him. It was a painting of his many appearances from each of the many worlds. Mratyn, his hand outfit, and a few others were painted onto the bark of the tree. Below it sat a note. Martyn grabbed it and pulled it off the tree to read.

To Martyn, my right hand man and ꖎ𝙹⍊ᒷ

Martyn paused, his mind racing. ‘How. Why.’ he thought as he stared at it. It made no sense, no one knew that he was the same person in many worlds other than C.H.E.S.T. And the only other person he had seen this whole time is-

“Martyn?”

Martyn looked over his shoulder and saw Ren standing there looking at him in horror.

Chapter Text

They looked at each other, not saying anything. Ren looked away before saying “You weren’t supposed to see that.”. Martyn turned to face him, trying to search his face for any emotions. Ren shifted nervously. “I bet you have a few questions.” Martyn snorted at that, keeping his gaze on Ren's face “A few ?” he said, to which Ren flitched a bit at the sharpness of it. “Okay, I’ll explain so uh,” Ren was still avoiding Martyn’s eyes.

"I painted it. For you. Kinda." Ren said as Martyn looked back at the small painting. "But it- uh never looked right however. I couldn't paint your eyes in the way I saw them." Martyn held himself back from blushing. Martyn stared at the painting before turning back to Ren. “I know it makes no sense to you bu-” Ren started before Martyn said “You're not a Npc.” with a tone of realization.

That made Ren's eyes finally snap up to his. He watched as Ren’s eyes widened as he stared. They looked at each other in silence before Ren said lightly “You too?”. Martyn nodded. Ren thought for a second before he said “I always thought something about you was different.”. Martyn looked away as he said, “Me too.”. He looked back up to see Ren watching him, with a nervous energy. “So, you remember Dogwarts?” Ren asked, to which Martyn would have laughed if he wasn’t also horrified by the fact Ren remembered as well. Martyn nodded, to which Ren smiled slightly, but he still seemed nervous with the whole situation. Martyn looked away as his mind raced.

Ren knew. He knew what he had done. He remembered that Martyn had killed him by taking his head. He remembered Martyn leaving him on the boat. He remembered everything Martyn had done. And yet he was still here. Why? Why did Ren stay? Did Ren think of himself so lowly? Martyn was just a bringer of harm. And Ren still stayed by his side. This couldn’t last. It never could.

Martyn paused when he noticed that Ren held the note he wrote for him. A final goodbye he had written. A note that said he was long gone. “Why did you come outside?” Martyn asked although he had a feeling he knew the answer, watching Ren look down.

“If I’m being honest I just wanted to see if I could change your mind.” Ren said with a slight chuckle at himself. Martyn just kept his gaze empty and cold at that, hoping it didn’t show all the ways his soul was begging to go into Ren’s arms. “Can I?” he said in an almost whisper, his eyes looking pleadingly at Martyn. Martyn just grabbed hold of his backpack strap. “If you really think you can, you're thinking wrong.” Martyn said simply, watching as Ren’s face fell at his words.

Martyn walked past Ren towards the wall and the large metal door. He paused in surprise when Ren grabbed his hand, stopping him. He turned to face Ren, who let go once he realized that the blond man wasn’t going to keep walking. “I don’t fully know what to say but,” Ren took a half step closer, looking away as he took a deep breath. “Did I do something?” He asked, his eyes were starting to fill with tears. Martyn just looked at him. It wasn’t Ren's fault. It was his own. Ren was the one being hurt time and time again. And he remembered it.

He knew that he was being hurt. Ren just didn’t want to feel bad for leaving. “No.” Martyn said, noticing the axe that was too familiar sitting next to both of them on top of a pile of chopped wood. Ren just stood there before muttering “Then why are you going?”. Martyn paused at that. He wasn’t sure if Ren would like the answer. He stood there for a second before saying “I can't keep hurting you. If I leave we can both be happy.” He turned away to spare his soul any of the pain. They both stood in silence as Martyn tried to stop the few tears from forming.

“Martyn, I know you are upset with yourself, I’ve been there. I need you to understand that it's not your fault.” Ren said as Martyn just touched his hand to the pile of wood, his thought screaming for Ren to stop. It wasn’t true. It was his fault. He hoped he didn’t see him shaking a bit. Ren opened his mouth as Martyn’s hand moved to the stop next to the axe, “Martyn plea-”.

*shing*

Martyn didn’t even think before he found himself holding the axe. He froze as he realized he had the axe sitting right next to Ren’s neck. If he moved it a bit more it would have caused Ren to have a similar end to how he did as king. He looked up at Ren’s face, staying frozen and not moving the axe away from his neck. Ren was crying, his face showing fear as he sat frozen watching Martyn. Martyn said nothing as he lowered the axe and dropped it into the ground next to them. Ren stayed standing and almost frozen before he fell to the ground on his knees shaking and gasping slightly. He stood there as he watched Ren calm down.

He didn’t move until Ren looked up at him. His face was covered in messy tears. Martyn had to fight all the urges to wipe them off his face. Martyn stayed silent, before he turned away again and began to walk away, opening the door. Suddenly Ren spoke up behind him. “I’ve been through many worlds for a while, with so many different kinds of NPCs and yet, I could always tell which one was you" He heard Ren paused before he said “I could never forget you.”. His voice sounded full of tears. Martyn hated it sounding like that. He wanted to comfort Ren, but he couldn’t. After he left, the pain would be over for both of them.

Martyn paused before shoving his feelings down "Maybe you should start doing that." He said coldly, not turning to face the dark haired man knowing if he did he wouldn't be able to leave without losing part of himself (Maybe he already was). Martyn didn’t turn back as he closed the door behind him, leaving Ren alone.

Chapter Text

Martyn didn’t remember how long it took him to walk to the portal spot. All he knew was he was still moving and that it was chilly. He only kept his gaze up to look for the metal structure. His mind felt both empty and loud as he walked. A constant buzz of pain from the cold that didn't help his aching soul was all he felt. He found himself in front of the portal. It reminded him of a nether portal as it sat empty with a small field around it. Next to the portal sat a few stones and rose bushes, which were closed due to it still being night. He looked at the sky, which was beginning to turn into a lighter blue with the stars vanishing (They were vanishing alongside him. Alongside his hope. It was almost poetic).

He moved over to the portal, spotting a small spot that looked like a slot. ‘There it is. I just need to plug this in and I can leave,’ Martyn thought as he pulled out his phone. He held it as he looked at the slot. He just stood there, looking at it. He knew he could just insert it and go but oddly he felt like he couldn’t move. He just stood there as he thought.

‘I should just go’ he thought, but his heart kept aching. His mind went back to Ren, his sad and panicked face as Martyn left. ‘I hurt him’ he thought before he shook his head. ‘It was for his own safety’ he reasoned, although it felt more and more fake the more he said it. He was a horrible person. He hurt Ren over and over, and he had hurt him again. ‘Do it,’ the voice in his mind whispered.

He didn’t think as he pulled out a knife from his bag. He didn’t think as he pulled it out and held it up to his chest. He could just stab himself, and he wouldn’t have to feel anything for a while. Just the emptiness that fills his body every time he dies. Death stopped meaning when it comes to him in this world. He wouldn’t admit the amount of times he had stabbed and cut at his own skin just so the thoughts would vanish. He held the blade up to his chest and stabbed into it, the feeling of warm blood spilling out into the chilly night air. He fell down onto his back as he stared up. He let his thoughts leave as he lay there, letting out hot breaths into the chilly air.

He didn’t move or think until he saw a flock of doves flying above him, letting out coo’s. He put his hand into his pockets and paused when he felt something in his pocket which he pulled out. It was the note that Ren had left on the painting. He stared at the words. There was one he could never tell what it ment. Although, he swore he knew that text as it looked like Galactic. He tried to remember the exact lettering as he typed out what he could translate it to. He paused as he read the word he translated it to.

Love.

Oh

Oh

‘Ren loves me,’ he thought as he read it, ‘Just like I love him’. He lay there, still bleeding, although the pain was long forgotten. He didn’t want to leave. As much as he knew it was stupid, and he was going to hurt him, he couldn’t bring himself to leave. He could leave, and hope Ren forgot about him and his love although it would hurt more than anything, or he could go back to Ren, he could go back to the man he had called his home, his love. ‘What do I want?’ he thought, as he watched the sun rise. “Ren,” he said softly, before he moved to sit up and grab his medicine kit. He quickly started to wrap himself, making sure the cut wouldn’t get infected. ‘I’m going to stay alive. For him’ he thought as he finished wrapping before getting up and grabbing his stuff to head back.

‘Ren, I’m coming your way’ he thought as he started walking. He didn’t even get to see some roses open behind him.

—----------------------------------{}---------------------------------------

Martyn had reached the metal door after a long and nervous walk back. It felt like he had been walking for years. But he was here.

Martyn paused outside the door. He wasn’t sure how Ren would be. ‘He won’t be mad, hopefully’ Martyn thought as he opened the door and entered. For a second he didn’t see anything out of place until he saw a shape under the tree branches. He could see Ren’s back as he sat next to the tree. Martyn set down his bag before walking over. He paused before saying “Ren?”.

He watched as Ren whipped around quickly. His glasses barely hid the fact he had been crying. He stared at Martyn before saying “Is it you? Have my prayers been answered?” He quickly stood, as Martyn just watched him silently. “Is it really you standing there, or am I dreaming? Is it really you, Martyn?”. Marty tried to open his mouth but nothing came out. He didn’t even notice as tears fell down his face until Ren moved to pull him into a hug and he shoved his face into Ren’s shoulder. He sunk to the floor with Ren following him still holding him close.

‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I love you, I love you, I’m sorry’ His mind chanted as he shoved his face into Ren's shoulder. He shook as Ren touched near the spot where he had hurt himself, which Ren seemed to notice as he hugged harder. They just sat there for a while, before Martyn moved back a bit to see Ren’s eyes. He looked at his blue crystal eyes and the only thing he could muster was a weak “Sorry.” as he turned to look away, like a dog from their owner. “No-no, dude, Martyn i-its fine” Ren said although Martyn didn’t meet his eyes as he said “No, I hurt you I’m sorry”. Ren just moved his hands to cup Martyn’s face and moved his face up to his gaze, which promptly made Martyn shut up. Ren just smiled at Martyn with tears in eyes and said “I don’t care about that. All I care about is you came back.”. Martyn just looked surprised at Ren before he said “You're lying.”. Ren let his hands fall away from Martyn’s face into his lap. “I’m not.” he said, his voice ringing with truth, although all it did was make Martyn more upset.

“Haven’t you seen all the things I've done?” Martyn spat, his anger and frustration at himself showing “The things I cannot change. Why would you still love me?”. Ren just looked at him with eyes full of love mixed with pain. “I know that you didn’t mean too. You were just protecting yourself. Heck, I’m the one who asked you to cut off my head.” he said as he glanced away as if he too didn’t like what he did. “But I still did it.” Martyn said before he felt Ren’s hand move to cup his face so their eyes met. Ren smiled sadly before saying “Maybe we are both to blame for that one. But believe me when I say that I don’t hate you, or blame you for any of that.”. Martyn just wrapped his arms around Ren, as his eyes filled with tears. “And maybe you did hurt people. But the only person you seem to be hurting right now is yourself. Heck, you're hurting me because you just won’t accept my love.” Ren added the sentence with a wet chuckle. “And I got one thing to say to any of your worries.” Ren lighty muttered

Ren lighty smiled before he said “I will love you over and over again. I don't care how, where, or when. No matter how much you hurt, you're mine. Don't tell me you're not the same person. You're always my love and I've been waiting for you.” Martyn stared at Ren as he brushed his thumbs over his cheeks, clearing the tears from his face. Martyn didn’t bother to think before he wrapped his arms around Ren’s neck and finally, finally , kissed him. It didn’t feel like fireworks, or sparks, or anything like that. It felt like coming home. He felt Ren melt into the kiss as his hands moved to play with Martyn’s hair.

Martyn pulled back after a few seconds to take some breaths of air as he set his forehead against Ren’s. After he had gained back the air Ren had stolen, he looked up to see Ren was also looking at him, a pretty blush covering his face. Ren chuckled before saying “I’ve been waiting to do that for a while.”. Martyn just smirked and sassed “You've been thinking about my lips for that long?”. Ren blushed before kissing Martyn again, seemingly trying to spare himself some embarrassment. Martyn didn’t mind. Not when he got to kiss his love a few more times.

—----------------------------------{}---------------------------------------

Martyn watched as Ren climbed up the hill after him. “Why are you so dang fast, man?” Asked Ren with a tired sigh to which Martyn just chuckled “Maybe it's because I am actually the faster of us two”. Ren just rolled his eyes as he moved to stand next to Martyn, who stepped onto one of the small rocks to be at eye level with Ren. They just looked at each other before Martyn snorted.

Ren just smiled as he watched Martyn step down, before he tapped Martyn’s neck causing him to freeze and blush. Ren waited for Martyn to turn and look at him before he said “I can see the marks on your neck. You need to pull your turtle neck higher, darling~.” and walked over to the portal to insert the phone leaving a very flustered Martyn to just stare, before following after. Ren put it in, and a portal formed. “Ready to go?” he asked, to which Martyn took his hand and smiled “Yep.”. They both stepped through which blinded him with bright light.

He was falling.

Which itself, it wasn’t unusual, due to the fact that means he’s in the Datastream. He was back in the outfit he wore so often. He looked to see Ren, who had a pair of goggles and looked like he was wearing what could best be described as a space suit with a few orange and teal lines running along it. He also had a pair of wolf ears and a fluffy tail, which both. He noticed was still holding Ren’s hand which made him smile. He saw a com screen pop up which he read.

Doc - I see you both made it to the Datastream. Good.

Doc - I’ll give you both time to rest. You deserve it.

Martyn smiled at that

Doc - (Also no freaky stuff please)

“DOC!” he yelled to which Doc just sent ‘gn’ before going offline. He saw Ren turn the screen so he could read the message. He heard Ren laugh (god he loved that laugh) before saying “So we get some time to relax. Good, I could take a nap.”. Martyn chuckled before saying “you know we can’t sleep here, right?”. Ren just hummed before saying “Do you want to hear about what GigaCorp info I came up with?” and then began info dumping about it to Martyn. He just listened to him ramble, smiling as he did.

Yeah.

Notes:

I have a few things I want to say *pulls out comically large paper*

Thank you to my buddys on the disocrd server for reading this fic and losing your minds over it. Thank you especially to Expri and m4delin you all encouraged me so much by letting me ramble. Thank you to Ly, for the wonderful art that encouraged me to keep going and is thats now my pfp. And of course thank you all so much for reading this fic! I didn't expect this fic to grow to the amount it is now. I posted like only a few sentences on April 15 and here we are now, over 9,000 words.

This fic means a lot to me, I wrote it in the middle of my classes when I thought no one would read what I thought of as "trash" compared to all the other fics out there. Now here I am, finishing this year of classes (heck finals start tomorrow even though I didn't study cause treebark). I plan to write more of this world in the fututre, with more fics in the same world with these two gay sillys. But for now, I'm gonna take a break to relax and draw some more art for artfight in a month. Anyway, this has been Zephyr/Zappy, and I hope you all have a good timezone :>

Notes:

Hello! This is my first planned big fic! We should have a few chapters, how many I'm not sure. I'll try to update as much as I can, but my classes should end in a few weeks which is both a good and bad thing (good, as I won't have to worry about class, but bad as I can only get energy to write in class). But, yea! Go drink some water, and have a great timezone!
