Judy sighed, stacking leaflets on her till. She loved the museum, she really did. Massachusetts’ history was really interesting, even if all her work was just in the gift shop. The working hours were good too, allowing her to spend her evenings with Shaun, even if she had to pay for nursery. All in all, it was a good job.
It didn’t stop her heart from aching. She should be happy with life. She had a beautiful son, a lovely girlfriend, and a good stable job. It was just, sometimes, when she looked in the mirror, all she could see was regrets. Judy, the teenage girl who dreamed of being a lawyer was long gone, but she just wished that she never fell in with Nate.
She scowled. It wasn’t fair to blame everything on him. And she would never wish away Shaun. Or Piper. She only had Piper because of this job, after all. Judy slumped her head down onto the counter, exhaling loudly. Maybe one day, she could do her degree again, and finish this time. Maybe.
