Chapter 1: Unfinished

Chapter Text

[As with all my stories, none of this writing is final and it is subject to change frequently!]

Where humans thrived, love was strict and narrow. It had to be between a male and a female. The male had to be dominant, and the female had to be submissive and defensive (this is a joke, do not take this serious). In all seriousness, what kind of low love standards is that? Don't humans know that love is supposed to be flexible? Don't they know that love comes in all shapes and sizes?

Love isn't precise and exact, it's loose and flowing, like a gently trickling brook in the forest. Love is belief that doesn't just apply to humans, it's something that shows in animals, shapeshifters, elves, and hybrids too. Humans were known for being afraid of the unknown and things that didn't fall into their definition of 'normal', after all. If humans were more open to concept of love with the same gender like penguins, bottlenose dolphins, black swans, and whiptail lizards (yes, I looked those up), then LGBTQIA+ wouldn't be such a controversial topic and often judged. Humans like what they know, what's familiar to them... they believe it keeps them safe, but this isn't always true. Where humankind lacks pliability and unbiasedness, shapeshifters make up for it all.
