Intern's POV (Current Day in the Animal Hospital Universe)
[As with all my stories, none of this writing is final and it is subject to change frequently!]
"Good morning, sleeping beauty~" was the first thing Quillian heard when awaking from being unconscious.
The voice was masculine and had a thick city accent, not to mention sounding unusually teasing. Their head was still spinning from whatever had knocked them out cold. They could faintly hear chatter, although, they couldn't make out anything thanks to the unpleasant ringing in their ears. Panic began to slowly, but surely, set in. Quillian could practically feel dread surging through their veins like a tidal wave in the midst of a vicious storm. Intern's black eyes fluttered open after hesitance, and boy did they regret it.
Right in front of them barely a foot or two away? Barney, the very same bunny serial killer who also doubled an infected anomaly. Intern's thoughts came to a sudden halt when they spotted Barney.
Barney tilted his head, upward-pointing bunny ears flopping to the side, "Welcome home, friend...~" he announced smugly, stepping back and lifting his arms dramatically at the surrounding area.
Intern glanced around and quickly realized what the serial killer was implying. Many Hiders were mostly obscured and lined against the wall, only their eyes and uncanny smiles visible. The humanoid creatures were snickering hollowly at the beige-colored rabbit. The Stalker was standing behind Barney, breathing raggedly with its long, gangly limbs draping limply from its pitch black body. Its large, almond-shaped eyes were fixed on Quillian intently, unblinking. A mimic anomaly that resembled a smooth-furred Head Nurse was chained to the floor by his neck, shackles jangling as he perked up and locked eyes with the intern.
The doppelganger twisted his head a full ninety degrees, then shrieked, tiny mouth splitting open in a gaping maw of needle-sharp teeth and a pointed tongue. He clawed at the air wildly, yanking at the chains like the feral monster he was.
Barney slowly turned to the mimic anomaly, eye twitching in irritation, "Bob, calm down! I promise you'll get a taste! NOW, SHUT UP!!"
The mimicker reluctantly slinked backward, growling in submission.
Barney crossed his arms victoriously, "Good boy," His gaze drifted back to Quillian.
The intern stiffened at the recognition that many pairs of eyes were abruptly on them. They attempted to stand, but ropes bound around their hands and to the chair stopped them from fleeing. Oh come on...! You've got to be kidding me!
Barney grinned toothily at the beige rabbit, "Don't panic, my friend~! That will make your situation much worse~!" his expression hardened, "Before you ask... no, I am not untying you. Don't test me."
Quillian shook their head—like they'd ever mess with a sadistic guy like Barney. They'd seen what the infected, white anomaly could do, and they weren't about to experiment with what else he could possibly do.
