Either the fin was giving Viktor much more trouble than he'd expected, or he was stalling. The worst of winter was already behind them, which meant a downstream slide to spawning season was lurking around the metaphorical corner, but Viktor hadn't even settled on a final design, much less a working prototype. He looked as if he was making progress today; he'd been hunched over his worktop for hours, only occasionally setting down his arc torch to swipe at his forehead and straighten his spine with a horrifying crack. Eventually, he'd hold his work up to the light, squint at Jayce, and shake his head, and the half-formed prosthetic would join its cousins on the scrap heap.
Jayce didn't mind. Every day he stayed here was another day of finding something else about Viktor he liked to look at.

When Jayce Talis moved into town, Jayce Giopara felt personally attacked. Seventeen years of going by his first name and suddenly, people started calling him ‘Jayce G.’ It was the worst and made him want to flip a table.
Okay, it wasn’t actually the worst. The genuine worst was the fact that everyone seemed to fucking adore the guy. Apparently he was really nice and Gio needed to take a page out of Talis’ book. It pissed him off. Talis was a gangly, scrawny nerd that wouldn’t shut up about magic and RPGs and people seemed to eat that shit up.
Jayce wanted to dunk that other Jayce’s head in the toilet. Squeeze him until his stupid head popped off.
And then kiss him. Just a little bit.

Back before, in the years feel as distant as if in another life, back when he was built better and tended to himself more, sitting in wait was one the best parts of their play. The ache that would build in his thighs and belly from holding so still would only sink his mind down more, have him needy and patient.Good, like Viktor deserved.
Now those aches don't build; they just are, always and no different than every other moment of the day. Now, his mind rolls around itself, chasing some far away memory that doesn't belong to him anymore.

Jayce and Viktor have settled into a life together after the arcane spit them out in hills far from Piltover. With their relationship sure, they decided to explore an old side to the relationship. But, even though Jayce wants it to be everything he remembers, the realities of his new body make giving into it much harder than before.

“You’re joking.” He choked, “You can’t be expecting to brainwash me, right!? That’s pseudo-science!”
“Perhaps in regular circumstances, yes. The addition of Hextech makes it not so. This device was carefully designed to render the human brain down to its most basic, programmable state. You’ve already lost, Mr. Talis. Or should I say… puppy.” Viktor said, leering at him.

I'm fine!" he squeaked, waving off the laughing concern from his immediate neighbours and Viktor's straightening in his seat. "Went the wrong way. Don't mind me." He checked himself surreptitiously for stains and took a sip of water, blushing worse than ever. The glass trembled a little when he returned it to the table.
Interesting.
The other enticement that worked extraordinarily well to convince Viktor to attend the dinner had been the nondescript little package Jayce had pressed into his hands an hour before he'd been scheduled to leave.

Viktor had been planning this day all year, ever since overhearing Jayce's latest speech. It wasn't just the very public, pointed digs at Viktor—it was also the fact that the Academy judges had refused Zaunites entry to any further Distinguished Inventor Competitions last year. That was the final straw that led Viktor to contend on making his own statement. He'd never been one for dramatics; but, he was no longer the same man. He was no longer simply Viktor, but rather, the Machine Herald.
And the Machine Herald had one hell of a bone to pick with a certain Jayce Giopara.
Two years after the dissolution of their partnership and fueled by some rather pointed speeches that pour salt into his wounds, the Machine Herald plots to destroy the Defender of Tomorrow's special day.
