All of it is set to culminate in New York City... if Bucky can remember what he set up.With some Clint/Natasha, Bucky/Natasha, Steve/Sam pining, a whole bunch of friendship dynamics, gratuitous pop culture references (Bucky is obsessed with pop music, as a coping strategy), slash, het, and a lot of cussing.

In 2015, Steve and the Avengers search for Bucky Barnes, thanks to a little extra intel from the future. GEN-based hurt/comfort/angst story, heavy on friendship, recovery, and examination of one very traumatized guy from the 1940s. COMPLETE, Standalone.
This canon-based multi-verse story takes place immediately after Age of Ultron. What does that mean? Because this is part of my Winter Soldier Time Travel series, it takes place in a canon-compliant timeline offshoot from the original canon-based story. I recommend you read Part 1 of the series (Winter Soldier: Resurrection), but you can easily understand this story without doing so. However, Part 1 is an easy read, less than 40K words, and it'll give you the background for this story. Part 2 of the series isn't relevant to Part 3, so you don't have to read that long story to understand this one at all. The end of Part 1 leads directly into Part 3 (Isn't the MCU multiverse fun?). LIGHT Bucky/Natasha.

This story starts out with a bang and a great sense of urgency. After escaping from Hydra, Bucky is on the run and increasingly desperate as Hydra seems to know where he will turn up next. Steve knows what is happening and he's desperate too - to find Bucky before Hydra does.

This is a heartwarming series with some delightful original characters (not romantic interests) who truly enrich the story and Bucky's journey. It starts with Steve trying to find Bucky and finally luring him back to Brooklyn where Bucky slowly heals and Steve find he needs healing as well though nothing ever happens in a straight line. Renovating a house together becomes self-renewal and food becomes love and family.
Another must read.

Click the link for the Time Travel series if you want to read the first one. It's not required to understand this story, but I highly recommend it and it'll give background on the time travel device. Part 1 is a fun, angsty story with lots of good Tony, Natasha, Steve, Sam, and Bucky moments. :) (And it's only 38K words).

I didn't see that coming! This is a well-plotted, insightful time-travel story in which Bucky takes desperate measures to make amends. One of my very favorites to be returned to again and again.

In 2024, Bucky Barnes follows a lead about more super soldier serum that takes him to Siberia. He encounters the unexpected and finds himself in 2014, shortly after the Winter Soldier vanished.
This is a COMPLETE, STAND-ALONE story but does have two stand-alone sequels (different timeline branches - one that goes into Falcon and The Winter Soldier's timeline and the other that is post-Age of Ultron). You can head directly from Part 1 into either Parts 2 or 3 (since 2 and 3 are independent of one another).

A very satisfying angsty time travel adventure. In 2024 Bucky returns to Siberia to make sure the formula for the serum is not there, only to be inadvertently sent thrown to 2014 and not only physically. Forced to seek out the Avengers for help he struggles to hold himself together while trying to set the timeline straight and return to 2024.

Summary
While on a mission storming a HYDRA facility, James Buchanan Barnes touches one of the many strange alien devices collected by the Red Skull. He does this, in fact, twice— in the past, and in the future.
Next thing he knows, Bucky Barnes is opening his eyes in the 21st century, which is full of great gadgets and coffee, and at least includes his old pal Steve. (And, inexplicably, a different Stark.) Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier finds himself in the middle of World War Two, helping Captain America hunt down HYDRA (which is at least familiar), pretending to be Bucky Barnes (which is not), and figuring out the very noisy group of soldiers who call themselves the Howling Commandos.
