Cyberlife had planned extensively for the risk of deviancy with the RK800. When Markus tries to convince Connor to deviate at Jericho, Connor’s anti-deviancy program contains the problem.

The problem being Connor’s consciousness, of course.

Playable game with RNG (Random Number Generator) driven random events!

If you don't remember this game, think back to things like Zork (or, as a poor simile, something remotely like Sir-Tech's Wizardry series in atmosphere [this version of Wumpus being far less graphics-intensive]).

Armed with vorpal arrows and bearing lid-bags of wumpusnip and wumpuspurge of dubious effectiveness in hope of alternately luring and warding away the evil monster, will you take up the gantlet?

Who says that CSS is 𝖍ard?
(NB for TTS screen readers: that last word was “hard”, not “ard”, but I cheated with an “h” from an unusual Unicode range instead of CSS, so that it would remain visually odd in the Summary... and found that my testing-purpose [and sometimes laziness] freebie TTS browser extension can't read it... because of course.)

NB 1:  HTML-structural redundancy bloated the word and chapter counts; ~15K actual words (~4K vis. by RNG) and 20 caves!

NB 2:  More PG than G, about as graphic as Oregon Trail, but I'm not sure if that's enough to rate as Teen.

This is a personal experiment with HTML. It is a very limited list with what I find useful.
Update: Somehow I find more and more stuff useful, so this list is not that limited (and not that private) anymore. I'll improve it with time and according to my needs. I just realized, this will never be "complete" and there is no final number of chapters.

    So far that's posted:
    Part One: Basics
    Part Two: Lines
    Part Three: Footnotes and Links
    Part Four: Columns and Skins
    Part Five: Pictures
    Part Six: Videos (and gifs)

    Part Eight: Chapter Title
Part Nine: The Title, the Username, and Links
    Part Ten: Kudos Message
    Part Eleven: Newspaper Article
Part Twelve: Content Notes and Spoiler (NEW: Opacity)
Part Thirteen: Playground for Jinx (glitch text, color, table)
    Part Fourteen: Text generator
Part Fifteen: Boxes (still in progress)
    Part Sixteen: Vertical Text

    Summary

This series started as just a one-shot to help people with AO3's CSS for making work skins.  Then I added a piece on making series.  Then it... snowballed.  I don't expect to add further tutorials, but I hadn't expected to write these either.  I'm calling the series complete, but who knows (one thing that keeps nudging me is to take the statistics and show how fics' half-lives vary, for example; another is putting all weird AO3 fixes into one spot).

NB:  If you're wondering, please see How to make and fix a series on AO3 (in this series with the tutorial on CSS work skins for fonts, which made that link become underscored blue ink [assuming that your browser settings, site skin, and third party apps didn't prohibit it]).

Cf. the CSS Abuse and HTML Tryhard collection, as a whole.

Want to know anything and everything about ao3? This is the place. It is almost overwhelming with how much information is in this series and other works by Charles. Have a question? Just ask them in any work.

    Summary

There are some great quick-and-dirty guides to HTML on A03. This is not one of them - it is a comprehensive guide

It's now 2025, a decade later. A03 supports some new HTML and and we're all walking around reading fic on supercomputers that fit in a jean pocket. It was time update this and take a crack at finishing it. (Links and Images are in, the new Audio and Video tags are not.)

The previous three chapters have been divided into smaller concepts. Each tag continues to have - at a minimum - a link to the w3schools page about it (so you can learn more), a code example, and the result of the code example. Most tags have their attributes, things like [src] or [title], listed and examples of how using the attributes modify the tags.

There's a chapter on Bad Ideas, including how some of the archive's default CSS is available to you to format your work (users can't turn that off by hiding a workskin!)

Oh. And I added a bunny army. You could learn how to add one too.

    Summary

A series of semi related fics where html is used as a major part of the story telling. experimental story telling, experimental html use, and a lot of reader interactive moments in the stories are present.

    1. Caffeine Brewed: Used an existing twitter skin to experiment with. A little messy, but it was my first dip into epistolary story telling.
    2. tired quaranteens: a lot of custom skins made by me. new html gimmicks in almost every chapter. choose your own adventure segment in ch 6 and an interactive segment in ch 7
    3. do you believe in coincidences?: written in the 2nd person - an interactive game where you explore a mysterious phone and decide who it belongs to, which affects the ending you get. There's more than 1 identity reveal, especially if you get the secret ending 😉 mild references to Caffeine Brewed if you squint.
    4. the hottest topic: phantom works at hot topic, and the internet suspects he's secretly half ghost, what does that even mean anyway?
    5. of bugged boxes and blunders: the box ghost learns to think outside the box

    Summary

This mission should have been simple. Should being the operative word. You had the exact location, your satellite had finally worked. Everything had led up to this moment.

But you were wrong, the underground structure not a weapons silo but an ancient temple, buried by time. You would think that after being impaled on a stalagmite, you would be very, very dead.

It only follows the trend that you would be very, very wrong. (Again and again and again)
