Summary
It takes a moment for Daniel to process his sudden and unexpected thoughts, and in that instant, pandemonium ensues. Armand’s glass explodes in his palm. There’s a horrible wet sound from the couch as Louis spits out his wine mid-sip, followed by equal parts coughing and laughter. Daniel is mortified, instantly turning toward the corner cabinets in search of towels, trying to avoid screaming internally to make matters worse. He frantically tries to avoid meeting those giant goddamn blood moon eyes. Fuck the Mind Gift, he's pretty sure he just blared that straight into their heads.
After Daniel suffers through a long day at work, Armand and Louis have a heartfelt surprise waiting for him at home. He's gonna react normally to this, though, right? Right?????

Summary
They had a safe word. It was Paris. Louis was so excited when he told Armand about the concept in the early 80s. A way of telling each other, without any ambiguity, that they were touching on something too painful or difficult. And either one could say it and the other wouldn't be mad or upset. It would change everything. No more accidentally putting a foot through a rotting board in the attic of Armand's mind, then having to hold the pieces together in the hours after as Armand tried not to fall apart.

Summary
Daniel is sprawled out across the bed, loose-limbed and lazy, somehow filling all the open space it has to offer and leaving Armand to nestle into the gaps. His cheeks are flushed, blood pooling like it knows what comes next. Maybe it does. Armand was reading about classical conditioning the other day. About dogs who become accustomed to getting food when their handler rings a bell.
Perhaps Daniel is the dog, Armand’s teeth sharp bells reverberating in his veins. Or perhaps Armand is the dog, Daniel’s blood a song rattling in his ears. He has been a dog before. He runs his tongue along the bow of Daniel’s collarbone, gathers the salt-sweat there and imagines what it tastes like because Daniel does.
Armand remembers he loved Daniel, once, and that Daniel loved him. Or a version of them did, at least. It isn't his intention to go back to that, but it's not not his intention, either. Such is the prerogative of an immortal: to hold two contradicting desires simultaneously. If nothing else, it passes the time while he waits for this miserable interview to end.
