Summary
In 1959, Andromeda Black walks away from Ted Tonks without telling him she's pregnant with his child. The very next day, she marries the pureblood man her parents chose for her and raises her daughter, Nymphadora, without telling anyone her real identity.
Eleven years later, a chance meeting in Diagon Alley reveals Andromeda's greatest secret. It begins a painful process of unraveling everything she and Ted have kept in the past, while trying to hold onto who they've become in the present.

Andromeda Black grits her teeth and gets through the last garden party she'll ever have to attend before she escapes the Black family forever.
There's a doily on every surface one would expect a doily to be, and a few one wouldn't: Uncle Alphard's shining bald head, for example. He's drunk already and the only one having fun.
The young man she's supposed to marry is standing across the garden beside the snake-shaped hedge. His hands are cocky on his hips as he chats with her father, his face putrid with that smug downturned smile all the rich boys she knows seem to wear. Like the whole world is a joke and he's the only one who gets it. Andromeda sticks close to the buffet, where she hopes she can keep her mouth full of Coronation chicken and not have to talk to anyone.
