Summary

Huaisang, for all his love of music and poetry, couldn’t even begin to describe what hearing those words sounded like.

Like the finest sweets imported from a distant land, concoctions of flavors unfamiliar and yet intoxicating all at once?
“I…you. It’s always been me and you, left behind while my brother went off to do god knows what with god knows who. And I’ve known how you see me for a long time, I’m not blind, and one thing led to another and. Well.”
Like the first dip into cool waters on the hottest day of the year, gloriously refreshing and impossible to recreate?
“I figured out who you are behind that mask a long time ago, by the way. I’ve seen the way you talk to everyone but me – you’re not that hard to read, you know.”
No. No, indeed – there was no prose or poetry that could explain this.
or, Nie Huaisang thinks the absolute world of Jiang Cheng, and if he would only be honest for once, he might find that Jiang Cheng thinks just as much of him.

Jiang Cheng tried everything: he rocked him, begged, showed him the Muppets, and sang him a lullaby, but his nephew kept crying.
And Jiang Cheng was tired: it was three in the morning, the next day at eight, he should have been in the office on time if he didn't want to be fired.
"What do you want from me? Food, cuddles, bad TV shows? Please, if something can make you stop... "
There was a knock on the door, causing the baby to cry even harder at the sudden noise.
"Perfect…"
Jiang Cheng went to the door, being careful not to trip over Jin Ling's toys scattered across the floor.
"For the last time, Xue Yang, I won't put a gag on my damn brat just to get you to sleep all the way ... you're not Xue Yang."

At first glance, he probably could be the Yiling Patriarch. Anyone who’s ever met the Yiling Patriarch says two things; he wears black robes and a red ribbon, and he carries a black flute. This person is wearing black robes and a red ribbon and he’s carrying a black flute, but there’s a sword strapped to his side as well - the Yiling Patriarch does not use his own sword - and he’s much smaller than one would expect the Yiling Patriarch to be.
“The Yiling Patriarch does not see anyone,” he says, in a chilling voice, “leave.”
“Who are you? Where is Wei Wuxian?” Sect Leader Yao demands.
“I am Wei Sizhui, the last protector of the Yiling Wens,” Wei Sizhui lifts the flute - chenqing, though why he has it, nobody knows - and his eyes glow red, “and you are not welcome here.”
