Summary
Sam stops a few paces off, hand on his hips and then lets them drop to his sides because he knows that (in the first place) it looks ridiculous and (in the second) this isn’t an argument. He takes in the piles of neatly stacked wood from the disassembled seat. ‘How’s it going?'
Bucky’s lips push out for a second, considering. ‘It’s going.’
Sam nods and then jerks his chin. ‘Sarah told me what happened.’
For a moment Bucky looks at him, brows furrowed and then he sucks in a breath. ‘Oh?’
‘She’s pretty upset.’
The gloves drop, landing softly on the grass at his feet, and he starts to move, dismay and regret clear across his face. ‘I’ll talk to her-’
‘Wait.’ Sam puts a hand on his arm. ‘She’s upset because of what she said, not because of you.
‘That-’ Blue eyes clouded with confusion. ‘That doesn’t make any sense.’
‘You didn’t upset her,’ he says, trying to sound weighty and gentle. ‘But we need to talk about this.’
Bucky’s head tilts back a fraction and it’s in his eyes, something guarded and wary. ‘About what?’

Summary
‘Think I’ll hit the shower,’ Sam says. Sarah turns at that, her eyebrows rising pointedly.
‘You think so, huh? Your friend’s out there still doing work and y’all just gonna go shower?’
‘I busted my ass on that boat. I need my shower.’ He studies his sister’s face and realises that there’s something- Not off, exactly, but different. ‘Are- are you wearing lipstick?’
Her eyes glitter, chin lifting in a way that’s been a warning since she was three years old. ‘So what if I am?’
Sarah does not wear lipstick hanging out in her own home after a long day. Or mascara. Or- He sniffs the air near her. Or her favourite perfume. Sam’s lips thin. Before he can gather the words together Sarah has rounded on him, a wickedly sharp knife in her hand and the point jabbing towards his chest as she speaks.
‘I don’t want to hear it, Samuel.’
He holds up empty hands. ‘I have not said a word.’

Summary
He settles into the chair opposite her and the lines of his face relax. He smiles at her and Sarah feels the small tight knot that had formed in the centre of her chest release and her cheeks heat fractionally. ‘You weren’t tempted into a cold drip brew?’
‘It’s either cold brew or cold drip,’ he says, face serious. ‘They’re two different things and I think I’m now an expert on both.’
Sarah’s lips pinch together. ‘Got them explained real good, huh?’
‘In depth. Why can’t people just take an order anymore?’
Sugar in rough-shaped cubes in a kilner jar on the table; Sarah takes a small piece of brown, holds the edge in her coffee and watches the liquid soak up until the cube is gritty and crumbling between her fingers. She drops it in. ‘She was probably hoping for more than just your order.’
A divot between his brows. ‘Huh?’
Sarah tilts her head, watches him for a moment but the puzzlement is genuine. ‘She would have taken your phone number in a heartbeat.’

Sam leans against the counter, arms folded and every sign of delight spread across his face. ‘You mean you the only white boy who doesn’t lose his shi-’
Sarah’s eyes flash. Bucky smirks ever so slightly.
‘Lose his mind when he hears how Tommy used to work on the docks?’
Bucky arranges the cut celery into a neat pile, flicks the knife between his hands easily, blade flashing as it catches the light. ‘I knew a guy called Tommy when I worked on the docks,’ he says, serene. ‘He was from Jamaica. Kingston.’
‘Yeah, I don’t think the song’s about him,’ Sam says, annoyance edging his words because it’s never as much fun when Bucky doesn’t grouse at him in return.
‘Pity. He was a nice guy; he dated a nursing student, I think. Can’t remember her name.’
‘Gina?’ Sarah puts in hopefully.
Bucky frowns, shakes his head. ‘No, I don’t think so…’ And sees the gleam in her eye. ‘Wait, is this the song again? This is the song, isn’t it?’

Summary
‘You wanna be fighting Thanos every week? I mean, I’m sure we can get you a time-machine and you can go fight Thanos every week.’
‘Hardly,’ Bucky says, ignoring the spiky sarcasm in Sam’s tone. ‘But, c’mon: two weeks ago we had that jackass on the stilts. Stilts, Samuel.’
He huffs out a breath of laughter. ‘Yeah… What was his name again?’
Bucky’s feet stutter slightly and he blinks at Sam. ‘Stilt-Man.’
‘Oh, yeah, right.’
‘Not like he was hard to take down, I don’t know why they even called us in.’
‘Yeah, I remember.’
‘All we had to do was string a rope across the road and he did, quite literally, go down.’
‘I know, Buck, I was there!’ Sam shoots him an exasperated side-eye and sees the faint curl of Bucky’s lips because, right, it’s the patented Sam-baiting grousing.
‘And now this guy? And what’s with the stupid costume?’
It was supposed to be a day off. But there's a supervillain in Delacroix, the press have descended and Sarah's wearing her short shorts. There's no way this ends well, right?

Summary
“Bucky, you have got to stop living like this,” says Sam, surveying Bucky’s bare apartment with dismay.
It looks exactly as bare and grim as it had on Sam’s previous visits: a living room that consists of one couch, one armchair, and one TV, along with a single closed cabinet, and a tiny kitchen table with one chair. Wait, two chairs. Sam’s visits have apparently occasioned the purchase of one additional chair, which Sam supposes is progress of a sort. Though Sam suspects that when he looks into the bedroom, he’ll find that exactly as it was last time too: an almost certainly unused and neatly made bed, a set of drawers, and a half-empty closet.
When an argument about Bucky's (lack of) interior design skills turns surprisingly serious, Sam and Bucky both have to face some truths about themselves and their relationship. A trip to IKEA and a snowstorm prove to be more helpful and enlightening than expected on that score.

Sam Wilson's fugitive life, post-Accords: taking refuge in a kingdom that might as well have been magical, in a sprawling palace set against beautiful mountains and jungles, where there was a handsome man cursed and trapped in a deathly sleep in a glass coffin, and a kind and just king who was working to heal him, and a stalwart warrior from a far-off time who wouldn't leave his cursed friend, and, hell, Sam even knew a witch. Surely Sam could be forgiven if his thoughts turned to fairy tales and Disney movies.
Bucky's kind of like a Disney princess. Sam would maybe like to be Prince Charming.

The dark head shakes. ‘Oh, there’s no way I’m cool enough to pull off Bucky Barnes. I mean, just look at his jacket!’

“Ignore the calendar,” Sam ordered Bucky. “Halloween is a month-long holiday if you do it right!”
After years of missing out on Halloween with his nephews, Sam was determined to do Halloween right this year. If that meant coaxing Bucky into joining the Halloween celebrations too, complete with a Wilson family group costume, so much the better. The fact that this would involve spending a lot of time sharing all the wonders of the Halloween season with Bucky was just a fun benefit that definitely didn't have anything to do with Sam's growing feelings for his partner and housemate.

Summary
It's entirely Sam's fault that Bucky's first thought on realizing he’s been captured by vampires is: well, these guys aren't part of the big three. His second thought is: if vampires have been a thing all this time and no one fucking told me, I'm going to be so pissed. What the fuck else is real? Fairies? Wolfmen? Goddamn Sasquatch??
Bucky gets kidnapped by vampires, or maybe it's a surprise family reunion instead. When Sam comes to the rescue, Bucky has to think fast to keep himself from being turned into a vampire, and to keep Sam safe in a castle full of vampires too.
So naturally he decides that they should pretend to be married. If Sam's family too, and if Bucky and Sam have a beautiful love story, Great Uncle Yakov will have to let them go, safe and unvampired, right?

She is absolutely gonna use it for the sake of saving Christmas in Delacroix though. With Sam away on a mission, Bucky's her best bet for finding the Spirit of Delacroix, the stolen boat that traditionally leads the Delacroix Christmas Boat Parade. As they embark on Operation Save Christmas together, Sarah's determined to preserve the Christmas magic for both Delacroix and Bucky, and maybe herself too, if she's willing to take a chance on Christmas romance.
