Summary
“Get out!” Buck shrieked, sitting up and shoving him away. Tears were running down his face, and he was breathing in small, quick breaths as panic set in. His voice came out higher than usual with emotion and the sound of it had dysphoria slithering around his chest, squeezing vicelike. Buck felt trapped in the bed, heart pounding at the realization that the only thing between Eddie and what was sure to be badly bloodstained sheets was a thin blanket. Eddie, who was wide eyed and silent at his outburst.
“Get out! Get out! Get out!” Buck repeated until Eddie ran from the room, muttering something about getting Bobby. It was only when he was sure he was gone that he dared to climb out from under the covers. Bile rose in his throat as he looked down at the bed, at the splash of crimson. His work pants were saturated in it, the scent of blood hanging heavy in the air. That combined with the shock and pain was enough to make him dizzy, and Buck felt numb as he wrapped the blanket around his waist before making his way to the locker rooms.
Or, Trans!Buck has an random period after years of being on T and has a bit of a dysphoric crash out.

Summary
In hindsight, she should have realized where this was heading. She’d raised two children, after all. Buck had gone from panting to sobbing in great big gasps, and suddenly his face, previously flushed with emotion, turned a sickly pale.
Athena realized a moment too late what was about to happen, and before she had the chance to pull over or even roll down a window, Buck pitched forward and gagged harshly.
Oh Buck.
Or Buck has a panic attack and pukes in Athena's car and she shows he doesn't have to be strong all of the time. Set during S2E13 when they are in the car searching for Maddie.

Summary
“You’re taking him home once we get back. I messaged Maddie but she’s at work and they’re slammed, I’ve already called in a few people to cover.” It wasn’t a question, it was an order, and Eddie was used to taking those without complaint, but the thought of driving Buck home, of looking after him, was much more intimate than he could bear. Not when the last time he’d helped Buck, he’d spun around and betrayed him.
Bobby seemed to sense his hesitation. “Eddie, you two need to make up.”
Buck and Eddie are still in their post-lawsuit divorce era when Buck shows up sick to work and Bobby insists Eddie be the one to drive him home. Eddie does his best to insist that he still doesn't have feelings for him.

“Evan.”
Buck froze at the use of his first name. Eddie didn’t use it often, not unless was being very serious. Eddie crossed the kitchen and took his head and his hands, looking directly into the blue eyes that were looking anywhere but him.
“What I saw yesterday scared me about as much as the lightning strike. I never want to see you in that much pain and I don’t understand why you are so opposed to taking care of yourself. If you won’t do it for yourself, do it for me and Chris. He can’t lose another parent.”
That was what did it. All at once, Buck fell into his arms, sobbing against the neck of shirt. Never had Eddie been more furious at Margaret and Phillip Buckley, for raising someone to have such little self-worth. Had he still been going through his little fight club phase post-lawsuit, he’d be on his way to Pennsylvania, fists ready, but all he could do was hold his boyfriend like the child he never got to be.
Sequel to When the Mind Breaks the Spirit of Your Soul, Eddie talks Buck into seeing a doctor for his painful periods and provides comfort during the exam.

“Well, you’ve got a fever now. Guess one of us will have to call out tomorrow.” Her voice was all irritation and no concern. “Get to bed, Evan.”
Nothing sounded better at the moment, so he didn’t argue with her. Moments later, she entered his room, carelessly tossing a trash bag-lined wastepaper basket at the foot of his bed.
“No tv, no video games, no computer, and absolutely no sugary drinks. You’re to remain in this bed until your fever has broken and you can keep something down. I’ll be in my office, but please refrain from shouting for me to get you something every five minutes. You’re much too old for me to be waiting on your hand and foot.”
“It hurts,” Evan whimpered softly as he burrowed beneath his blanket. He knew better than to complain to either of his parents, but it slipped out before he could stop himself. As expected, his mother was unsympathetic.
“Evan, stop whining, you’re fine. It’s a little tummy bug, you’ll live.”
Kid!Buck gets appendicitis and his parents are about as helpful as you'd expect.

Summary
“Edmundo!”
Buck snorted, the car veering slightly. Eddie had never seen him turn such a deep shade of pink, his birthmark red and standing out starkly. Eddie badly wanted to kiss it, but it was on the opposite side of where he could reach so he settled for kissing his own finger tips and tapping the mark.
Belatedly, he realized the reason Buck was laughing so hard- he just said all of that out loud. His thoughts were moving slow and syrupy, but it seemed the barrier between his mind and his mouth was gone. Perhaps that much cough medicine before a date was a bad idea.
“I appreciate the enthusiasm Eddie, but you cannot say shit like that while I’m driving.” Buck was still blushing, but the blue of his eyes was almost non-existent, swallowed by his dilated pupils. “There are so many ways I would like this night to end, and none of them involve rebar through my skull. Save the dirty talk for when I’m not operating heavy machinery.”
Eddie takes too much cough medicine before his first date with Buck rather than cancel and makes a fool of himself. Good thing Buck loves him.

Summary
The cold tile floor was agony to his knees as he knelt in front of the toilet, retching convulsively. Everything hurt and now that Theo was asleep, he finally felt able to cry, but he had no tears in him. His mouth was paper dry and he’d scarcely peed in hours and he begrudgingly accepted that now was the time to call for help. Eddie picked up on the first ring and Buck was immediately rambling.
“Eddie, I can’t do this alone. Theo got it too and it’s been hell. There’s puke and shit everywhere, mostly his, and he keeps crying for his parents and I don’t know what to do. I’m so, so tired and I just want to sleep. I can't stop puking, I can’t keep anything down and Theo will be up soon anyway and I don’t know what to do! I’m not cut out for this. I love him so much but I’m not his father, I can’t take that place!”
Or, Buck and Theo are both hit hard by norovirus. Buck thinks he can handle it until he can't.

Summary
Buck hadn’t noticed it at first, in the blur of the building collapse. He was just so happy that everyone came out safe, happy to have Eddie back. It wasn’t until the scene had been cleared and everyone had been patched up that he got a good look at him, and Buck was horrified.
Eddie hadn’t been gone more than three months, but in that time he’d seemingly wasted away. This made no sense to Buck, given the last time he’d been in Texas he’d eaten more than his weight in tamales. The food was not the problem. He knew he’d been stressed, but if anything, he knew Eddie to be a stress eater, not the opposite, but here he was in his– their– apartment, having just changed into a borrowed pair of Buck’s pajamas and they hung off him. Buck can’t help notice that even his best asset, which he really doesn’t pay attention to because no, Maddie, I am not in love with my straight best friend, has seemingly shrunken.
Or Eddie returns from Texas with a mysterious illness and Buck grapples both with that and his repressed feelings for his best friends.

“Eddie?” His voice sounded almost shy, but Buck didn’t get shy, especially not with him. Or at least he hadn’t before.
“Yeah, what is it? Need another blanket, more tissues? Is it your head?”
“No, none of that. Motrin has me feeling a bit better.” He coughed into the elbow of his borrowed hoodie. “Just, why are you doing this?”
“Bobby told me too.” It was his go-to answer, but it sounded hollow even to him.

Summary
“Just a little dizzy,” he chokes out. “Think I’m dehydrated, mind getting me one of my drinks from the fridge.”
“Blue or red?” Hen calls from the kitchen and oh god, are they all staring at him right now. She brings him both before he can answer, and he’s dully aware that a concerning amount of time must have passed. Buck is trembling too badly to crack one open, his hands weak and tingly, and Eddie has to do it for him. He shudders as icy blue liquid splashes down on his shirt, soaking through the cotton.
“No offense, man, but there is no way you are dehydrated. You’ve always got that water bottle and you’ve peed like, a million times this shift.” Eddie’s voice is light, but he isn’t smiling, and he takes Buck’s wrist in the palm of his hand. His other hand finds his pulse with practiced ease, and it must be bad judging by how his brown eyes widen.
Or Buck has been living with undiagnosed POTS for over a decade. He has it under control until he doesn't.

Summary
They were on the way to another call, a preschooler having a seizure at recess, when Buck realized just how big of a mistake the carnival snacks were. He was no stranger to anxiety-induced nausea, but he was also well aware of the difference between that and actual nausea, and this was definitely the latter. It was a good thing turnouts weren’t needed for this sort of call, but Buck was still sweating, but also kind of cold. Being sick on the job, in front of the others, is kind of up there in terms of his worst nightmares, so Buck put his best poker face on and focused on breathing in through his nose and taking tiny sips from his water bottle. It had already gone warm in the California heat and it tasted hot and bitter, doing his stomach no favors.
Early S1, Buck is in an ADHD/RSD spiral after being rehired, and when he gets sick from carnival food he does his best to keep it to himself.

“Bullshit, I’ve driven in snow plenty of times.” Buck grabbed his keys from their bedside table, but Eddie put out a hand to stop him.
“No, Buck, I’m not having you do that. I actually don’t think this is a migraine, and I’m only supposed to take it for my migraines. This one feels different.”
Buck frowned. “How so?”
“Came on pretty fast, and it isn’t in its usual spot, it's kinda all over.”
“Yeah, that doesn’t sound like you at all.” Eddie didn’t flinch when Buck laid the back of his hand over his forehead, used to his husband’s protective tendencies. “You’re a bit warm.”
“My abuela always said I’d catch my death playing outside in the cold.” Eddie laughed a bit, and then winced as though that were a mistake.
“Nobody here is dying, Eds,” Buck’s voice was firm on the matter. “I’ll get you some cold medicine and take over with Christopher while you get some rest.”
A fun snow day for the Buckley-Diaz family turns perilous when one of Eddie's migraine turns into something much worse.
