Ilya's not so unlucky he'd be the victim of the first on-ice hockey curse in literal years, right?
Well, with the energy the burning of his effigies has unlocked and the general sentiment of one too-powerful witch girl putting an intent into the universe, he is.
Now he's on all fours, and unable to play for at least a month unless Cliff and the gang can pull it together to find Ilya's true love to break the curse. Obviously that's Montreal Jane, the only woman Cap's ever guarded with such fierce jealously. So they have one night to find her and save Cap all in one fell swoop.
And find her they do.

Summary
One curse was not enough. The universe (this time, via the mechanism of a close personal friend who cares) finds a way to try to get these dumb hockey boys to communicate once more, and another hockey curse happens mid-game. Shane Hollander had been playing an amazing game, even if it was against Ilya, who he'd saved from a curse just by saying his first name, who'd since ghosted him after the Olympics.
And now it's suddenly Shane's turn to be on all fours, unable to play, and by god, this kitten has claws.
Luckily, that seems to be the wake-up call Ilya Rozanov needs to get his head out of his ass, and now he's on a quest to do the thing his man did for him: break the curse and find a way to make things right, even if it kills him.

Summary
The Voyageurs have been on a losing streak almost as long as they haven't had a mascot.
Now that they have a new star center, and things are starting to turn around, they see a chance for investment in a brand new mer: except this one isn't a beautiful mermaid, something weak and soft, but instead a symbol of power, dominance, strength. They go with a shark-type mer, something that represents their rise back to hockey superiority.
Shane Hollander doesn't expect this to have anything to do with him, right up until he realizes that the mer can talk and does not in fact want to be the beloved face of this ancient franchise, and pretty soon, his movie-star/activist best friend has him pulling a heist that threatens not only his hockey career, but the entire social structure of North America.

Summary
Hockey is mostly made up of canid shifters. It makes sense, especially because team sports appreciate that natural, instinctive pack connection that shifters are capable of having. They also are supposed to have that raw animal edge, that instinct for sport that a normal person might just not have, and besides, the instincts make the game more fun to watch.
That's what makes Ilya Rozanov's supposed shifter-less status so infuriating. But Shane knows him well enough (and has been pressed up against him enough during high emotion, intense, uh, settings), to suspect that he's hiding something. And he shouldn't be -- shifters make more money in the league, and Shane himself is one, is praised for what he is. So his goal, during their time at the cottage, is to prove himself right (or wrong, but he's rarely wrong, c'mon, be so for real).
He gets a bit more than he bargains for, but by god, Ilya's his baby, and his shift wants him for a mate, and he's going to make it happen, come hell or high water.

Summary
The hunger sets in after his Mama dies. He doesn't know why, but he misses her cuddles more than anything, how they'd link hands and do everything together. Slowly, Ilya finds that even though food can't fill the void within him, touch can, and that escalates and escalates, even though nothing ever fully satisfies him. At least hooking up and fighting on the ice keep the worst of it at bay, as long as he's able to touch for long enough.
Shane Hollander, on the other hand, has grown up disciplined in two worlds: hockey and the ancient art of protecting humanity from demons, as his mother's family always has. He did pick hockey in the end, and his mom is proud of him for that, but still, he should've maybe recognized the signs his most annoying, reckless, stupid hookup was putting out a bit quicker than this.
