I bought Rogue Trader for the kinky Drukhari and stayed for the grimdark lore. In spite of having, like, eight seconds of dialogue in a completely different game, Abdirak (the other kinky man who lives in my head rent free) is there too. I present to you the result of extensive maladaptive daydreaming and irreverent liberties with the parts of canon that I find incongruous, lacking, or boring. I am also, perhaps, a little too fascinated by mechanisms and implications of xenobiology in ways I didn't expect from myself.
As for the narrative, in a nutshell, this is a story about a staunchly dogmatic Rogue Trader and what it would take for him to break to the point of seeking solace in the embrace of a Drukhari.

The Netherbrain has been defeated for a year now, but while most of the companions are off on quests of glory or aiding the rebuilding efforts, one of them is wallowing deep in trauma and burying her problems in a bottle.
Shadowheart has been struggling greatly with everything since rejecting Shar. Saving her parents, trying to come to grips with the change in power from Trickery to Life, and poorly coping with a lot of wine.
Sometimes though even the divine get tired of your shit.
