Mark wished he could cling to William. He wished it wouldn’t break him to hang on tight. His eyes stung and he asked, “What if it’s not good enough?”
“Please. Like that could ever happen,” William said confidently, sitting up and twisting to face him. “You’re Invincible.”
This was always going to happen. He's been dead since the beginning.
“Do continue. If you think you can cross the rest of the space between us before I tear this man’s head from his body? You’re welcome to try.”
The Mark Grayson who loved William Clockwell just had no way to know that.
