If Mark had to play nice and try to win Thragg over, he'd choose the route with the least amount of lives lost. Considering he can barely move around, being a honeypot seemed like the best answer.
If Mark and Thragg had more uninterrupted date time and less of a time crunch. Written to be more or less understandable without reading the parent fic "Don't Stop Me Now", but they'll probably seem more out of character. You don't have to read the whole long fic though.
