The bruises on her arms pulsed with each beat of her heart, reminders of her last futile rebellion. “I can’t live like this,” she choked out. “You say it’s love, but it feels like a prison.”

The forest was deeper than any map had ever shown. Branches curled above their heads, and the air was thick with an unnatural mist. The Hero, sword drawn but dull from overuse, pushed aside bramble after bramble. Behind him, the Maiden followed in silence, her white dress torn at the hem, dirt clinging to the edges. “This doesn’t make sense,” the Hero muttered, voice strained. “We should’ve been out by now.” The Maiden clutched the pendant at her chest. “It feels like we’re going in circles.”
They were. Even the Hero had to admit it now. The same gnarled tree with the moss-covered trunk had appeared five times—always from a different direction. The forest was playing tricks on them. “Maybe this is part of the Demon Lord’s magic,” she whispered. “A trap.” He looked back at her, trying to manage a smile. “Then we’ll break it. I’ll find a way out. I always do.”

This fic is meant to serve as something similar to my Danganronpa one, except I have infinitely more fun writing it because I don't have to come up with murder plans and try to make sense of things when I could just bullshit it most of the time. It's exactly like Total Drama with a couple of twists to make sure that the formula isn't the exact same thing.
I promise I'll actually have continuity this one.
