He moved to one of the cupboards, reaching to pull down two of the ceramic dinner bowls for once the pasta was finally finished. “Alain gave Chloé the solo, however, so she is already being insufferable. It’s good that Mishi won’t be here when-”
“Can we talk?" Tobias cut him off in a whisper. His eyebrows were pinched together, and he looked nervous, his fingers drumming against the counter top.
There was a heavy thump in Gabin's heart. He finished setting the second bowl down on the counter with a jolting movement, almost dropping it, the sound of ceramic hitting granite loud and harsh in the now otherwise silent apartment.
None of this was how Gabin had imagined his evening going.
“Oh.”
Tobias still wasn’t looking at him.
“Uh. Of course.”
