Artemy Burakh, savior of a slightly different shade of Town on Gorkhon, becomes smitten with the Bachelor who's arrived from the Capital to study the Miraculous Polyhedron. Because of his new found infatuation, he asks a favor of his dear childhood friend, Lara Ravel: Help him write letters to the Bachelor to impress and seduce him.
Lara knows how this story ends up; she's read the play, after all. But she would do anything to make her dear Cub happy.

Grigory licks his lips, eyeing the blade. Must be one of Artemy’s, which means it’s probably done a lot more cutting than most other weapons he could scrounge up around here. It’s got to be useless after all that, which is probably why he abandoned it in the gut of one of Rubin’s aggressors. Something about it seems inviting, like it wants him to take it. For some incomprehensible reason, it seems to him more valuable thanks to the man who wielded it, like an imprint of his golden hands might still cling to the handle.
It’s a silly impulse, but he’s never had a problem following those before. He reaches out, gripping the corpse’s hands to try and pry them apart, gently loosening his hold on what he can now see is a scalpel. That means he’s likely cut those willing to be cut with this blade, as well. He tries to ignore the way his heartbeat quickens at the thought, an absurd thrill for how obvious it is. He’s a surgeon, of course he cuts people who want it as well as those who don’t.

Summary
People are disappearing.
Bachelor Daniil Dankovsky is sent to investigate. His experiments with defeating death haven’t been going as well as he’d planned and The Powers That Be need him out and away. So on their orders, he finds himself in Gruvren. A snowy mining town deep in the mountains.
Though he is revolted by the strange town and its beliefs, he helps them, and quickly realizes things are more complicated than he thought. A local of the town, Artemy Burakh, offers to help Daniil with this seemingly impossible task given to Daniil by The Powers That Be.
Differing beliefs and constant disagreements decidedly don’t work well together when you’re traveling the world in search of answers.
