In a small courtyard, a crowd has gathered, and for a moment, Daniil can’t help but think about how much of a health risk this is, assembling in such a mass when there is an incredibly contagious plague going around. These thoughts are quickly dismissed, however, when his attention is pulled to the sounds emanating from the center of the group. Wretched crying and seething shouts.
“Do you truly believe you’re some kind of savior? You’re nothing more than a little witch spreading the disease!”
Daniil and Artemy both push their way to the front, and they’re met with a disturbing sight.
The cries are emanating from none other than the Changeling. She’s on her knees, hunched over a wooden crate, which her right hand is lying flat on top of. And stuck through this hand is a knife.
Daniil does a double take. Hard.
A knife. Like a wooden stake impaling the heart of a vampire, a butcher knife is pierced straight into Clara’s palm, effectively pinning her to the top of the crate.
Oh god.
