Archives, logs, data, it's all a blurred mess of redundancies for Esmee, who's earliest memory is of visualizing complex equations. He never saw the purpose of keeping records and memories. They were just extra baggage in the long run.
His dossier reads perfectly. Alec Ryder's prodigal younger son graduated at 15, got a slip-in to ICT at 16 and graduated just a year later with a nearly spotless training profile. It catches attention, warranted or not...For what it's worth, Esmee was never good at making connections with people, but he's become a master at masking himself away into a convenient package.
That is, until three years later when he meets John Shepard, and suddenly everything Esmee has known about being brave, of being a soldier, is flipped on its head. A fellow N7, Shepard poses a problem Esmee had never accounted for; Someone with the power to claw under his mask to unveil the real Ryder hidden under the sarcasm and lighthearted joking.
Now, he can only hope they can sort this shit out before it's too late... for everyone.

During Mass Effect 3 events -- After Citadel Coup, Kaidan and Shepard agreed together. They can’t trust anymore each other in matter of love. Still, Shepard has hard time coping with the separation, while Kaidan is doing just fine with his new lover : the Doctor.
Everything is truly different, now. Two years seem to be a lot, even if for Shepard he was gone for extendly 2 months. But reality is harsh. Fine, he needs to turn one hundred percent of his attention back to the Reapers.
Althought, his suicidal actions are starting to worry the crew, particularly Kaidan.
