Davey is drowning. Beating heart, a frantic drum pounding against his aching ribs. Shallow breaths become harder and harder to gulp down. Head spinning round and round, dazed and painful. A wave of nausea washes up inside and he leans over, clenching his jaw and forcing it back down.
Jack is confused. Very, very confused. If you asked Jack the top three most confusing moments of his life, he’d say that this experience was rivaling the number two spot against the time when Race, Albert, and Crutchie had....
Davey is not having a good time. Jack is confusion, if that ones Davey and the other ones Davey who's Mouth, who's Sarah, Jacobs's explain!!!! Les may have just got his first big bro secret but he will do anything to keep it, even if he has to eat vegetables.

But he also knows how absent he can be when he’s pushed into his role, how many dangerous mistakes could happen if he were to sink too far away again, unaware, and unable to escape the haze he finds himself settle into and stop himself. A flipping knot of worry takes up residence in his gut and he turns over, trying to find some sort of rest.

Summary
And now, his dream happened, he had lived it. Had felt alive for the first time in so long, years. How is he supposed to begin to go back to his old life, to the pain and shame he felt living as a mimicry of himself. Tears have gathered in his eyes at the memories and the old curl of pain settles into his chest. Heaving a sigh he remembers how Jack, Crutchie, and Race had all accepted him as one of them, almost like a brother, the identity he so desperately wanted. He hopes to push away the hurt, but it just persists, and as he begins to dress himself in his old clothes his hands begin to shake.
Davey wants to live as a boy but life is complicated.

David and Les are met with one of the largest packs in New York City, the Manhattan Newsboys. Meeting the pack alpha and selling with him is not what he had planned, neither was starting a strike. But here he was. Heartbreak and love will drag our boys through a rollercoaster of emotions.
