David has always hated the cold. He hates the way it bites into his skin, turning his face red and his fingers numb. He hates the dread that comes with it, the cloudy skies filled with the promise of snow that has not yet been fulfilled. He hates the ice that covers the road, making the sidewalk slick and dangerous.
So being thrown out into that cold with nothing but a coat and a few dollars in his pocket is an absolute nightmare....
Or, David gets kicked out and goes to a bar to spend the night. You'll never guess who's bartending.

He felt so small, minuscule, that he felt like were he to confess anything in that moment, it would cause no wide disruptions, no consequences, just a simple statement of fact, as gentle as an autumn leaf falling from a tree.
Spoilers:
Davey's in a coma where he repeats the same day. It's both a frustrating time loop that he doesn't know how to break out of and also a nearly perfect fantasy world his subconscious came up with. Being in love with Jack in both reality and his dreams doesn't help either.
