Frisk ha vivido a la sombra de todo y de todos, la han insultado y pisoteado. No se siente segura en ningún sitio, ni en casa, ni en colegio, ni siquiera sus pensamientos son seguros y probablemente sean el lugar más peligroso de todos. Rondada por algo invisible que a desequilibrado su vida.
Cae "accidentalmente" por el inmenso pozo del monte Ebott. Encontrando un mundo subterráneo completamente distinto al suyo y donde cree haber encontrado gente igual a ella, pero su apariencia no es la que esperaba.
