The first time she equated Hartley to the sun, was when she skipped through the door with a bright smile and fake sunbeams spiking off her head from her ridiculous hat, and she pulled a second one out to plop on Amy’s head. The sun was too bright, a bit nauseating, and hard to look at. She wanted to crawl back into the dark and reject the upper world as vehemently as it always rejected her up until that point.
