Jess takes a final drag and maybe she performs a little, because she wants to see what’ll happen: maybe she licks her lips before, maybe she leans so the jut of her collarbone stands out underneath her shirt, maybe she makes a point to catch García’s eye when she inhales, when the smoke pulls into her chest, when she hitches her breath to keep it there.

Every inch of Jess’s body that was touching Lupe tingled with an electric buzz. Jess pressed back and let her lips part slightly, a heady rush of excitement making her dizzy. Far too soon, Lupe broke it off and pulled back, grinning like a satisfied cat.
“You tell me, brother.”
For a moment they stared at each other and Jess felt like she was looking through entire universes as she met Lupe’s eyes. Like a magnet between them, she leaned back in, her heart racing, her hands trembling, her whole self screaming for more–
