— Это вообще что? — попытка сформулировать вопрос чуть чётче всё же выбивает из Лейто смешок. Наверное, нормальным делом было бы провести пояснительную беседу, а не хмыкать, пожимать плечами и затаскивать в дом коробку наподобие тех, в которых оставляют щенков, чтобы никто из соседей не задавал лишних вопросов.

Dépaysement (French): change of scenery, disorientation, culture shock, the feeling of not being at home
What Damien doesn’t say, has no intention of saying, is that he is working himself into the ground not only because he owes it to Leïto and Lola and all the inhabitants of the once infamous Banlieue 13.
He also keeps working because as long as he doesn’t stop, he doesn’t need to think about the persistent feeling that’s been lingering in the back of his mind since the day the President let them hit those five red buttons: the feeling that he’s waiting for something, waiting for something to happen, he just can’t quite figure out what it is.

Summary
After the wall is taken down, both Leïto and Lola think that their burb, and their lives, will start to resemble something akin to normal. However, that idea goes straight out the window when a stranger appears in their lives claiming to tell three truths: 1) he is their friend, 2) they are in danger, and 3) he is from the future.
