Finally, after being separated from decades - centuries, scattered all across space and time, the Union Leaders are back. Hearts restored, memories recovered, and Keyblades in hand, there's only one thing moving.
One leader who is still amnesiac, still missing his real Keyblade, and is still lost. And also happens to be stuck with the single most arrogant, block-headed key slingers the Union Leaders have ever seen.
Doesn't matter if they're the "good guys" here.
Nothing will keep Lauriam, Ephemer, Skuld, and Brain from getting their friend(OR: Ventus is getting his memories back, and his old friends want their little brother back, but that puts them at odds with the Guardians of Light.)

Of course, all of them are then surprised when something crashes in the mountains, which turns out to be a girl with no memories. Understanding her plight, Ventus rushes to get her some help, but problems ensue when a branch of space police follow them, alongside a veritable army of aliens who the girl is apparently connected to. Overwhelmed and surprised, Ventus works to lead his friends to do the right thing and help the girl, and he's totally not being influenced by the fact that he thinks she's cute...

A Slice of Life (at least for now) where Vanitas makes a last wish that somehow became reality.
It all boils down to: "What if Vanitas gets a chance to undo what was supposed to happen"
Edit: Story is planned out to some extend, do to that I turned this into a series. This specific fic is 25 chapters long. I already work on the first few chapters of the next part of the series.
A friend of mine pointed out that the style I went with during this first fic won't necessarily fit in with the more serious tone we have later on, so I try to change it up a bit in part two of the series. And now halfway through chapter 1 of part two I have to admit I wish I would have done this 25 chapters ago. Things feel more fluent and I don't need to think all that hard about metaphors anymore. I also feel that the characters now actually feel more like their original Story counterpart... Let's see how long I can go without falling into old schematics. :'-)
As a sidenote I do sometimes write " no Keyblade at the hip for a change" or similar wich is more of a metaphor as well. Basically means that the character isn't so on edge that they consider summoning the thing anytime soon.
