Things are thrown out of whack for the Tendo and Saotome families, and the mermaids of Dolphin city when Principle Kuno sends the families on a trip to Dolphin city for Akane to learn how to swim. It succeeds, but in a way no one expected as Akane finds herself in the grotto of Mako island during a full moon.
While the veteran mermaids urge Akane not to show off her new tail, Akane is thrilled to demonstrate her new swimming ability to her classmates as soon as she gets the chance, making the girls question if hiding their secret was the right move.
