Annabeth furrowed her brows.
"You know, there's a hella big problem here." She said with a strong California accent. So, she was also American before she start her life anew. "We never took your eagle, and we have no idea who that Jason guy is."
She didn't need her dogs to understand if she was lying or not. She was genuinely surprised and confused.
Sweat started running down her temples. What was going on in that damn place?

On one occasion, they were fleeing a battle the Pack couldn’t ever hope to win, so she’d grabbed her pup in her jaws to dash him to safety. He’d screamed and sobbed in pain and when she finally put him down her muzzle was red with blood. She’d licked his wounds clean, allowing her own divinity to heal exactly where she’d hurt, and when she was done he clung to her like she was his only benchmark for comfort. She’d dropped her head from his grasp and growled low in her throat to remind him that she was not a goddess who coddled.
He still curled up at her side when they slept in the den that night.

When the child arrived his black hair was tousled and messy. He lay sleeping in the fallen needles of the pine tree that stood above him.
The boy was lain on his side; he looked peaceful, as if he had just fallen asleep for a moment and lost track of time.His face was soft looking in sleep, a light brown, with his lips slightly parted. His hands were curled protectively around the empty space beside him. He wore a faded orange shirt and baggy jeans, with tattered old converse poking out from the hem of them. He was undoubtably handsome, even if it was in a homeless, skater type of way.
The wind brushed lightly against his skin. His face was littered with little pale nicks on his nose and cheeks, showing an insight to the life the boy had led. As the moonlight shone on him every so often his skin would seem to ripple, scales seeming to creep up his scared arms, slits appearing in his neck. But it was surely a trick of the light as the boy who lay there his black hair filling over his eyes was completely normal... completely.
