Summary
Nocturnal brings Gallus back to life, and gives him a simple mission: retrieve the Skeleton Key, and kill Mercer Frey. He succeeds - at first, anyway. He finds out later that his own death was a lot more complicated than he thought, and that Mercer championed more than one Daedric Prince. And that Daedric Prince doesn't take well to her Champions being stolen from her.

Suddenly, the haze lifted. Mercer’s eyes fluttered open. He felt overwhelming clarity - more clarity than he had ever felt in his life. He stood up, then turned to look at the sword. It was long, thin, and black as midnight, with silver etchings near the hilt. He ran his fingers across the blade, his skin tingling with the magic of the enchantment. He grabbed the hilt, then held the sword up to the light.
“So long as I am with you,” Mephala whispered, “No one can ever lie to you again.”

Marianne, the child of Mephala and Jodis, life destroyed by betrayal and death. After being found by Nazir, Mari follows the man to her new home, her new world with the Dark Brotherhood where she forms an unbreaking bond with the Redguard, who trains her for survival, eventually leading to love. Together they fight corruption and betrayal within their little family, not knowing there are darker forces at play.
