These are the facts of the situation:
First, the stands at the Greyhounds’ training facility are particularly slippery after rain.
Second, Trent is not as coordinated as he would like to believe.
If he had known that Colin’s heroic rescue would result in this spiraling storm of whispers, Trent would have asked the universe to let him fall. Sure, it would have come with a loss of pride and respect, perhaps would have eradicated the last shreds of his dignity, maybe would have even resulted in a trip to the A&E if he hit his head, but –
It has to be better than this.
Trent wonders idly if he did hit his head and this is all a very bizarre dream.
Or: AFC Richmond think that Colin and Trent are in a secret relationship and are trying very hard to be supportive. Colin and Trent just want to be free from this nightmare of miscommunication.

“I’ve got it!” Isaac proclaimed standing suddenly and walking over to the strategy whiteboard, flipping it to the blank side. He then started to draw out some sort of diagram, quickly titling it ‘Not Being Homophobic About Colin’s Sex Life’.
Colin’s mouth was hanging open as he watched in silent amazement and horror as the team debated how to categorise various sexual activities. At one point, someone suggested that images might be a helpful aid, and next thing he knew, there were about 15 different stick figures having sex scattered across the whiteboard.

Ted would be the first one to admit that he didn't know a darned thing about football when he arrived at Richmond. So no, he was not at all prepared for the awful, horrifying truth he discovered: that football clubs were allowed to keep some of their players as indentured servants -- slaves, to be more accurate. He wasn't prepared to take on a tradition that allowed for physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, all in the name of winning football matches.
As for Colin and Jamie, who were both sold as indentured servants when they were kids and have barely survived since then, they long ago learned not to trust anyone but each other. Especially not with an owner like Rupert Mannion, who's been happily abusing his authority over them for years. They know better than to believe anyone will help them.
Luckily, Ted believes enough for all of them. But he's got his work cut out for him, because a system that will accept human trafficking in exchange for football excellence is not one that will change easily...

Jamie had grown a lot during his time as a Greyhound. He went from being a young ingénue who was an absolute terror to everyone around him to being a kind team player who everyone loved being around. This was a tough journey, and if Jamie was being completely honest with himself, he was a little lost now that he was a new and improved person.
He had been lost. He had been confused and looking for the answer for the next part of his life. He certainly didn’t expect that answer to come in the form of a seven year old son, but now that answer was sitting on his couch, and it was his job to figure all of this out.
