Shouta’s brows drew together in concern as he watched the boy fidget, scarred fingers idly picking at his pajamas as he stared ahead, towards the wall.
Deliberately *away* from his Sensei.
“It’s just...it’s not a big deal” Problem Child mumbled quietly, his tone betraying the hurt the words had caused.
Shouta felt a flare of anger at the lie. Not at the boy, no. But at the others that had ingrained that lie into the boy’s psyche.
“I’m used to it. I just…I just wanted, I *needed* to catch up. I can’t keep falling behind and struggling to feel like…”
He trailed off with a small sigh and a shake of his head, the words dying on his lips.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m just, I’m sorry Sensei. I didn’t mean to cause a problem today.”
A hesitant, wearied and feverish gaze flickered towards Shouta, searching the man’s face for...something only the boy could know.
But in a blink it was gone, back towards the wall, and the boy closed in on himself, stifling a cough into his sleeve as he shuffled his feet awkwardly.Series
