Which was why Maddie was now driving Danny to the doctors for a physical. As per Illinois state law, all student-athletes— no matter the sport —had to have a clean bill of health at the top of each season. Thus, the physical, thus the doctor’s appointment, and thus the reason Maddie was sitting next to her son and squeezing his hand as the doctor went through a list of past injuries that she had not known about.
