Summary
Time has always been strange in the Oldest House, stretching and contracting, bending around Thresholds and Altered Items. But never folding back in on itself, never creating a loop. And Emily would have continued to believe that too, if a chance convergence of events hadn't landed her squarely in the middle of the temporal relationship between Jesse, the House, and the Board.

“It’s okay, Mr. Wheeler, look, he’s breathing.”
Indeed, shallowly but slowly, Alan’s chest rose and sunk. He looked almost peaceful now, but that didn’t calm down Barry in the slightest. He stood up and started pacing, muttering to himself.
“Oh, this is bad. This is bad bad, what are we gonna do, what are we even doing, what is going on-”
At that, he came to a halt, his eyes darting over to Jesse, who was still crouching in the same place, gaze fixated on Alan’s pale face, as if she could find an answer there to the question Barry was now asking her out loud:
“What the actual HELL is going on?!”
She just shook her head.-

“But this does make me think, Rashida.” Emily says. “If Polaris can sense residual paranatural energies, and ‘look back in time’ after a paranatural event, this could be useful to the Bureau! Let’s suppose we have an accident with an Altered Item, or – or something goes wrong during an extradimensional expedition and our agents can’t tell us what happened. Polaris could.”
