Eddie doesn’t know how to be brave, or maybe he’s just forgotten, but it’s little difference. Eddie doesn’t know how any of this works. Eddie can’t make something out of nothing– but maybe this isn’t nothing.

Richie settled down into his bed, tucked under the covers as much as he could and he spoke. A quiet tone that honest-to-god felt unfamiliar in his own mouth.

There was silence, as he refocused. Just knowing Eddie was expecting something. And Richie was never one to let down Eddie, he hoped he never would be.

At one point, after the pain radiating from his chest eclipsed the sound of Richie hurling insults at the clown but before his vision truly faded, Eddie had thought to himself I don't want this to be all I get. He deserved—better.
