It goes like this: the whole way home from work, Eddie is fuming. First he was stuck in traffic, then the new intern spilled soup all over his new shirt, then his computer deleted the spreadsheets he’d been working on for weeks. Holy fuck, Eddie thinks, steaming. I can’t wait to rant about all this to Richie.
“Richard Tozier, you will not believe the day I just- what the fuck is that.”
Richie looks up from where he’s knitting a tiny sweater. And then he dares to say with a shrug, “A squirrel’s in the bathroom.”

Beverly threatens his life if he doesn’t call or send letters, Ben promises that they’ll all save up money and come visit him. Richie promises letters and calls and tells them all how much he loves them, really does love them, and then it’s Eddie. He doesn’t say anything, pulls Eddie into his chest, as close as he can possibly get him. Eddie’s arms are wrapped around his waist and Richie wants to live in this moment forever if he can. They don’t let go for what seems like years in Richie’s head, and then they do, and Richie decides it’s the most wonderful time to do something very stupid. He leans in, a little, and kisses Eddie."

“To Stephen Sondheim’s greatest hits?” Eddie asks, laughing, and then gasping, surprised when Beverly dips him down so low he’s scared that he’ll collapse. He doesn’t collapse, though. Because he’s getting better. He’s getting stronger. Leaving Derry was the cure. And Beverly doesn’t treat him like he’s made of glass.

“I’m – I’m not sick,” Eddie stuttered around his tears, letting them slide down his cheeks and dampen the pillow he laid on. Eddie wished he could turn the clock back one hour—stop himself from crying and making such a mess of everything. He wanted to live the night without warm tears and a runny nose; without the look of sadness in Richie’s eyes.
But the list kept going. He wanted to feel normal. He wanted to never have to hear his mother speak about sicknesses and diseases that she knew nothing about. He wanted to hold Richie’s hand in public, and he wanted Richie to wrap an arm around his shoulders while they walked down the hallways. And he wanted to make-out at the back of theater at the Aladdin. He wanted his anxiety to go the fuck away. He wanted to not worry about anything for an entire fucking day.
I want, I want, I want, Eddie thought, the words burning his esophagus as the bile of it came up from his heart.

In the first fic, Eddie’s mother hits him with a frying pan, causing him to move in with Richie. At some point later she kidnaps him, drugs him, and shoots him in the shoulder, leading to amputation. This is also the fic where Eddie’s Shine lets him talk with his ghost father.
The second fic takes place 4 years later. There’s some sort of wave of suicide attempts going through the Losers, and they have to put an end to it. Patty is introduced.
